ok, i have an ASUS G1 notebook
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?mo...74&l3=464&l4=0 This is the first generation of the notebook. T7200 2.0GHZ CPU 2x2GB DDR2 RAM (upgraded myself. Computer only sees ~3GB. This is a mainboard problem, not X86/X64!) 160GB 7200.2 Seagate HDD (upgraded myself) 1680x1050 15.4" screen Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit (preinstalled) everything else is as per the website. now, it can play most games fine, even if i have to turn down the settings. but i can't get COD4 to play smoothly...even @ 800x600 res and all settings on the lowest they will go. The HDD light seems to be pretty constant while playing, could it be trying to read from the HDD while playing and this makes it jerk? i've even downloaded the 180.48 WHQL drivers with a modified inf file from laptopvideo2go.com but that didn't make any difference. any suggestions??? |

I think you will find that the notebook is throttling your CPU.
1. Make sure that you have plenty of ventilation under and behind your G1. 2. Use a utility called RMCLOCK to disable throttling on your notebook. You can also monitor temps with this. RMCLOCK home: http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml Resources for the G1S but useful for the G1 too: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=146088 Let us know how you go.... |

had a look at that and it hasn't helped
![]() still jerking a lot. I restored COD4 to the default settings and it pushed the GFX up a little, doesn't seem any worse, so i think that means its not my video card. The HDD is still going constantly...am thinking that might be it? i might even install a copy of Win XP FLP on here and see how that performs?

well, incase you were wondering, i got it sorted
![]() i posted on that forum you linked too, and while their specific suggestions didn't help, someone put me on the right path and i sorted it. long story short. had a 8GB SD card which i had ReadyBoost enabled on. Turned it off and COD4 is all sweet (computer was constantly writing to SD card which was making COD4 jerk!) |

I was going to say to disable anti virus. I had issues with CA causing stuttering especially during airstrikes.
