Default Travelling Laptop

Hi guys, I'm basically heading overseas for a few months and would like to buy a laptop to take with me.
It would be mainly used for the internet and some DSLR photo work. It may also be used for some camcorder work but I'm undecided whether or not I'll be taking my camcorder.
I'd also like it to be reasonably light and small as I'm moving around a lot so this is a big concern. And of course like everyone else I would like nice battery life.
Finally I also want it to be useful after the trip so maybe the ability to play WoW would go nicely? :P

I was looking at the eeePC they seem good in the size department but I don't think they'll have to grunt to do photo work and their screens are pretty low rez.

Are the 13inch macbooks any good bang for buck?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Macs are great to travel with, their packaging gives them the edge over any comparable PC laptop. The ability to swap plugs on the power adaptors is also pure fucking genius.

I've had a 15" macbook pro since september last year, since then I've spent something like five months overseas carrying it around all the time.

If you've got the money the 15" mbp is well worth the extra over the 13" models – the extra screen space and graphics power would make playing WoW a bit more fun as well as making your photo work easier.

I've got both a Eeepc 1000h and a MBP 15". I've done travelling with the MBP, but wouldn't again - I'd go with something lighter and a bit smaller.

The 1000H is awesome to travel with, but yeh, it is lacking in the grunt department, and the 1024x600 resolution screen would suck for photo editing.

The 13" macbook may be a decent middle ground, or a 12" dell (still lacking in grunt though). Grunt wise the 13" macbook is equal to the 15" (apart from gaming performance), its really a matter of screen size.

If money isn't that much of a problem, you could try the macbook air. its nice and compact and very light. Has limited hdd capacity though, so that would suck a bit.

One tip would be to fit the biggest hdd you can, and get another one in an external case for backup.
