Default msi wind slow cpu speed?

hey i was wondering if anyone could tell me if my cpu is running at the speed it should be? obviously being an msi wind it has the intel atom N270 1.6GHz however i can only seem to get it to run at 800MHz, should it not run at 1600MHz?

on battery or power? it will run slower on battery. also, it will probably slow down when idle, and speed up when needed. What are you using to measure CPU speed? My computer properties in windows will not vary, so if the machine boots up at 800mhz, then thats what it will show. try using cpu-z and do something cpu intensive, see it it goes up.

I think it is called Intel SpeedStep and it basically underclocks your computer when not in use. Have you got the new Wind Bios? It allows you to get 25% overclock when running on mains.
