Default ASUS X56A Brightness Issue in XP

Hi!

I recently bought this laptop and the Fn + Brightness keys (F5 to dark and F6 to bright) doesn't seem to work.. well it DOES, the On Screen Display bar goes higher and lower, but the screen doesn't.

I know it works, because I can adjust the brightness while the XP load screen is loading.. then once in windows, it doesn't work. Is this a common ASUS issue? please advise...

Okay. FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!

It's the INTEL G45 video driver.

Running in safe mode the Fn key works..

Uninstalling the video driver the Fn key woks..

I tried the older video driver and latest one, It still won't work. anyone know how to tweak this at all to make it run? I'm suspecting the video driver is linked to some asus power software (which i don't have installed and running) which is causing my issue
