Default eBay batteries for laptops

While I sent an email off to Dan Rutter about this recently, I'm starting to get a bit restless and am wanting to work out what to do in terms of netbooks.

Basically what I'm curious about is how much faith one can put into the ratings of laptop(/netbook) lithium ion batteries from eBay.

For example, office works quoted me an Acer 6-cell battery (wikipedia says 5200mAh) for a little more than $180, but on ebay there are a couple of other options.

I've been thinking about getting a netbook (such as an Acer Aspire One or Asus eeePC) for overseas travel, although am wanting a bit more battery life than most offer. The Acer Aspire One - which is my current favourite - comes with a 3cell battery which according to wikipedia is rated at 2200mAh. Office Works, though, will order in an Acer 6-cell battery for somewhat stunning price of AUD$180 which according to Wikipedia should be 5200mAh.

For example 9-cell 6600mAh and 9-cell 7200mAh. Prices are even more reasonable when one starts looking at eeePC batteries.

Has anyone had any experience with these types batteries before?

Thanks,
Rob.

I'll have to double check, but I was quoted "About $100" for the extended 6 cell battery from a store the other day. I can't remember the details (I'll find them in the morning), but it was a major chain store, if you were preferring to buy from a B+M store.

Just checked my notes, Officeworks quoted me $100 to get a 6 cell battery. Then again, I've been told by some people friends (ie i trust them on this) that Acer upped their prices on Dec. 1st by 20% and theres more increases to come in Jan.
