Default $1500 Recomendations

Hey All

I was offered (what I now realise was) a pretty good price on a new HP dv5 a week or two ago, 2.4ghz C2D, 4gb ram, 320gb HD, 512mb 9600 GT, Vista for $1500.

Was wondering if there were any other laptops in that price range that will have simmilar/greater performance? Minimum 14.1" screen, price range up to 1700 or so. Wouldn't mind going second hand, but can't find to many second hand laptops, especially with those sort of specs.

Alot of the time it's going to be a web surfing/work box, but it'll also be used for a bit of gaming and possibly some cad work, and will need to last 3 years, because I won't be replacing it any time soon. It's replacing a Lenovo R60 that's completly fallen to bits.

Any ideas?

If you can go up to $1700, the Asus M50VM-AS001G should be a good choice.

Heres a quick copy of the specs:
CORE2DUO T9400 2.53GHZ,320G,2x2G DDR2,15.4" WXGA+ COLOURSHINE,NV G9600M

Is the $200 worth it, for what I can only see as a .13x2 GHZ increase and not much else?
