Default Best time to buy a laptop?

I'm in the market for a new laptop (budget is around $1500). Dell have some pretty decent deals going at the moment, but I'm wondering whether I would get a better deal from a shop if I wait until after Christmas? Do laptops tend to get discounted in after-Christmas sales?

Ati's XGP should be more abundant around 2nd quarter so I’m waiting till then, Fujitsu-Siemens has one out called AMILO but I think I can hold out a few more months to see what other companies can dish up.
