Default Looking at a NetBook

Really don't want to spend anymore than $500.

Acer Aspire One?
MSI Wind?
Dell Insipron Mini 9? [$549]
Asus EEE PC?

I really like the EEE PC's but what is the best one around ATM. Won't be used for gaming, just surfing and proabably small things like music, videos, word processing, maybe photoshop etc.

Would prefer XP and a decent amount of HDD space.. But what do you fellas think?

this has to be one of the best deals around, and after shopping for a netbook for most of the day in the city, I would say the 901a is my pick.

atom, upgradable ram, has a keyboard you can actually use (unlike all the 7"'s I typed on, also wireless N and a 6 cell battery (non of this 3 cell stuff) for a runtime of 5hrs +. Only issue is the 8gb onboard, but a 32gb SD card (or maybe a few of them) or some usb sticks would solve the issue

Asus EeePC

Either;
901 - Small super portable, slightly cramped KB, fantastic battery, 12GB SSD (4+8 RAM) tough and shock proof. (You'll end up with a SD card eventually)
or
1000H - (be careful here there is several versions of the 1000) Little bigger, so nicer KB still good battery but now with HDD

I have just ordered two Asus EeePC 901HA's from Harvey Normans. (I know they are over priced and a scam most of the time but this looks good)
It has an upgradeable 160GB HDD, 8.9" screen, 1GB of RAM that is upgradeable and comes with XP. All for $547.

i have the EEEPC 1000H...it's fantastic. i paid $660 with little/no haggling from HN, a few months ago. not sure what you can get it for now...presumably a fair bit less.

the only thing wrong with it is the location of the right Shift key. everything else (display, speed for net browsing and word processing, display, battery life, weight, portability, ability to watch shows/movies/whatever) is pretty much spot on.

i haven't tried any games at all on it, so can't comment there.

Looks ok, isn't the 3 cell battery rather bad though?
