Cheapest you will find the game on release is $85 at target, a think Kmart have it on sale from the 11'th at $80 though.

I managed to get a schmuck at target to sell it to me, was pretty easy, was a matter of waiting for the most docile kid to start working the counter, and then telling him i couldn't find it on the shelf and if he could look in the draws for it... He found it, scanned and gave it to me.

I took the game to EB (in attempt to get the street date officially broken) and gave them a photo copy of the receipt and explained how i got the game prior to street date, they were pretty shitty about target selling it.. especially since the store was less then 100m away. 2 of the sales guys ran down to try and buy a copy of the game but someone else attended the counter and they got denied.

The manager at EB told me i should of waited and bought it from them for the calendar, i told them the calendar already has 2 useless months and 9 useless days.. and the pictures were lame, not only i pointed at the price difference and said, normally id price match but as if i can bothered waiting for you chumps to catch up and start selling the game. He proclaimed that they will get fined and won't be able to restock the game, i explained that i don't care because i have the game and it's not my fault they didn't make all there staff aware that it had a "street date". He came across shitty at me but i could tell he was really just shitty at target.

This was on Saturday, release date didn't get broken yesterday so i doubt it will happen today... But lets hope aye!

So does anyone have word on if street date has actually been broken? Its my day off and I want to go get it haha.

It depends where you live man; just call around your local stores.

My MYER has broken the street date and is selling the PS3 version, but not the 360 version. And of course I'm after the 360 copy, go figure :P

Got mine from Target, the guy cbf'd checking so gave it to me

Very impressed so far, really enjoying it. Totally linear while it introduces the characters, story and plays out the tutorials.

Looks excellent on 360 and the battle system is quite enjoyable although early options are extremely limited.

Only criticism so far is that I've played about an hour and I'm on my third party of characters. Not a huge deal but I don't like having to change too much especially if items are locked to individuals that you can't control.

Apparently Sydney CBD JB HiFi is doing a midnight release. I'll be picking my copy up on my way home from work tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how it goes. I'm sick of reading/watching reviews and having to put up with them saying "Oh it's not as good as the older FF games."

Any idea on the cheapest collectors ed?

EDIT: Just looked up a review of the CE, for the money its such a waste even the art book isn't any good. I'm just going to swap for the standard edition at target prices. Was really hoping they did something nice for the CE like quite a few other games these days but obviously not. What you get is barely worth the paper its printed on and definately not the $55 extra for what is essentially a few pages of paper and a CD that I will probably listen to once.

Yeah pretty disappointing, but I had EB cards from XMAS and got a good trade price on a game I have multiplies of, so that brought the price of the CE and the CE Guide down a bit. Otherwise I would be heading to the standards on special or the JB 3for1 deal. Online has some great prices, but I want to get some play in before God of War III!

Even with the left over EB cards (think I had $31.25 left over on em, $20 for a trade in on a game) I am still looking at a hefty price but that lessens the burden on my wallet

Will be playing this tonight, but going from Good Games review will take a while to master the combat/unlock its full potential.

i bought mine this morning from kmart..i should of held off till latter today as it is now taunting me....i got there pretty early and the bloke said he had already sold several copies, i also asked about if he had heard if kmart had sold early he said no....

still waiting my pre-order with EB Games, paid for registered so im tracking it through the Auspost site and my order seems to be in QLD ............? and it hasnt moved since friday ?

dont think i'll pre-order from EB anymore if the game doesnt even arrive on release date.
