hehe. i do what i can.

on the contrary, being busted can yield some really nice shots. the expressions you get are often better than the candids.

so what do you think of street after this outing?

If they are in a public area you dont need to ask permission. I'm not really a street photographer. Makes me nervous. I was expecting to be "spoken too today" especially near the protest area. I stood in the pedestrian safety zone in the middle of the road for 5 mins taking photos of people and there were 2 cops across from me busting cars doing U turns. They were watching me with interest also - so I took some photos of them too

The only people that have asked me about the photos were the supermarket staff

Photographing public events I wouldn't expect to be questioned - more people tend to pose for the camera I find. I have had more people give the thumbs up and a smile than get shitty when spotting me, and none have been aggressive.

Out of these, I like the busker, but would try an 8x10 crop to remove the left dead space and a touch from the top and bottom to fit the ratio if needed. I think it would have more impact then. Maybe even B+W would work. Not sure if I like the clean look or not yet

Actually, if *you* are in a public area you can do what you want, even if the subject is on private property. (With caveat: As long as they are not in an area where they would assume a level of privacy)

Good use for "Live view ".. means I dont need to lie in the middle of a busy mall to take a photo. I do need some practice though as I havent read the instructions yet on focusing when using live view.. I'm a newb with this new fangled technology !!

Thanks for the info. Didnt get a chance to hear him play. that photo posted was trying to get contrast from the old guy collecting cans to the busker
