I'm just wondering what peoples opinions are of these CPU's.
Looking around on the net, the main difference between dual cores and core 2 duo's (wonderful naming conventions btw intel, goodjob!) is the half the amount of cache and a slightly lower fsb on the dual cores. I remember looking at reviews for desktop chips back in the day, cache played a role in gaming performance mainly, while in desktop applications it didnt yield much difference. Is that still accurate with regards to the mobile versions? Bottom line really, is a T3200 sufficient if the most intensive task you'll be doing is watching H.264 videos? cheers

Yes it still accurate.
As for watching H.264, the graphic process with hardware support would make it skip free. processor for software support isn't that great. edit: delete most of my entry due to confusion in intel weird naming schematic. Naming a processor "dual cores" while it's a generic term for two processor in the one chip. Last edited by system2t; 18th December 2008 at 2:13 AM. |

my t2300e will decode 1080 264 with about 10% cpu to spare. just gotta make sure to use CoreAVC (transformers 1080 about 60% in low rate and 90% high rate scenes).
also its dual-core and duo, they mean the same thing really, whats so confusing? cache relaly hurts for gaming, but thats about it. fsb not so important when the mch itself is the limiting facor. Last edited by terrastrife; 18th December 2008 at 5:33 AM. |

Sadly, this group now seems to be feeling pressure to change." I drive a stock R33 non turbo automatic Skyline - 120kW at the wheels! OCAU Nissan Skyline Club Member |

If I were you, I'd wait until Nvidia release their Atom, 9400GS powered Netbooks.
