Default 7" asus eeepc

Which is the best 7 inch asus eeepc. I'm looking for a really cheap netbook. Like around $300-$400.

I just need it for web browsing, playing RuneScape, running MS word and occassional music playback.

It's for my brothers Xmas present.

Opinions and prices please.

Thanks.

theres pretty much one model of the 7" eeepc and that is the 701 which has 4gb SSD, 512mb ram etc. Other models like the 702..etc are harder to find.

There's an 8gb one at Wireless 1 for $319.

Will it do what I need smoothly?

Can I use an external hard drive as storage on these?

Would a 901 model be a better choice?

Go the 901, I got the 701 when it first came out, so was only one available but wish i waited and got the 901, bigger screen would be heaps nice and much better battery life.

FYI,

onlinecomputer (www.onlinecomputer.com.au) will be selling EEEPC 900 with 30 GB HD and 1GB RAM for 349 on 23-24 December. a mighty good deal i would say, compared to $299 for the 701 SD with 512 MB RAM and 8 GB SSD. too bad i just got myself a U100 few weeks ago.

How does the 900 compare with the 1000H?

Just remember this only has the 900mz celeron processor were as the 901 has the 1.6ghz atom which has better battery life and more performance. Guess it all comes down to what you are going to use the netbook for

this table might help with so many confusing models
