Nvidia has dubbed this the "Ion platform".
Looks like VR-Zone got some pics of a nettop reference design from Nvidia. http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-m....html?doc=6313 More picts here. http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...-netbook-space Gist? * Intel Atom (Single or Dual-core) * Nvidia MCP79 chipset (GeForce 9400m?) * Pico-ITX form factor (The standard pioneered by VIA) * SO-DIMM slot single channel for DDR3-800/1066/1333 memory * 6 USB connectors, various audio connectors, DVI, HDMI, E-SATA, etc * Notebook style HDD sitting at the bottom. According to this... http://www.techtree.com/India/News/N...96351-643.html Asustek Computer, Gigabyte Technology, and Micro-Star International (MSI) are rumoured to have expressed interest in the idea. Initially, VIA and Nvidia were doing a netbook solution together. That deal appears to have been canned. So it looks like VIA Nano + Nvidia chipset is dead for netbooks...But there are rumours of the project continuing for nettops. Last edited by stmok; 19th December 2008 at 8:28 PM. |

The Pico-ITX board is very interesting, and the 9400M is supposed to handle 1080p content as well....
So if they throw a Dual Core Atom on that board, you have an instant media centre, and really a moders dream board, as it will fit almost anywhere! Next question will be price.
