Yer but if the server has a much increased skill gain it will help crafters & pvpers, tamers, bards etc to get up & going quicker.. get the items we need and make it appealing & easier for new players..

After all, its a free shard & not like you have to slow down progression for more money..

As long as you can get 7 x GM on your PvP'er in a relatively small amount of time then I'm ok if crafting takes a while to GM :P.

What do you mean by that? I personaly would love if every one was a "tamer/bard", make pking a hell of alot of fun.

Anyway fast skill gain would be good for the server seening it would make the game more skill based (mainly in pvp) rather than who has played the server for the longest and has alot of free time on hand. It will also make it easyer for ppl who join 3 months down track enjoy the game.

You actualy had fun spending days on end training up character on OSI? Used to piss me off only being able to be involed in the lower lvl aspect of the game and getting killed by un skilled pkers just because they where 7xGM and I wasnt.

But I can see where your coming from, I surpose for the purely PvMer's the game could get "boring reeeeaaaaly quick" because you could be able to kill say a anceint wyrme within a week. Thats why you get involed in PvP , events or guilds to make it more fun.

For me PvP never gets boring because your versing a person not an programed script.

PS. Taming and provoking are still 2 of the hardest and slowest skills to GM in a fast skill server

Well this post has pretty much turned me off UO/Darkfall. All the time I hear how great UO was because its pvp required skill, and wasnt nub 80's ganking lowbies or whatever. But now I see, that lack of classes and levels makes no difference... its still people with more power beating on those with less.

The only difference is you seem to have 7 x GM in a cookie cutter skillset, instead of a lvl 80 rogue with a cookie cutter talent tree, and that gear doesn't matter.

I mean, i will get char i want, i will pvp for two weeks and say "meh, i archived everything i wanted, time to go". Well, if there gonna be a good PvP going on, guild based and such then it probably will be fun. But still killing somebody only for the sake of killing somebody can get boring. Anyhow I am just think out loud I never had real experience with quick training server So i hope it will be fun! I will be there for sure!

Personally I believe that a faster skill gain means more fun, although it also develops a lesser sense of achievement knowing that it only takes a small amount of time to get a 7x character.

Dependant on your play style, the amount of skill you gain can determine whether or not you have fun in the game. For some people rushing a 7x then PvPing is the best, where as some people enjoy the satisfaction of finally 7x'ing a character after a lot of hard work.

The server will provide benefits to both styles of players, aiming to keep everyone happy

I think you may have miss understood me, I was saying OSI (thats the slow skill gaining servers you have to pay money for) was the place where "nub 80's gank lowbies". If this server is fast skill gain then you can enter a pvp fight knowing your on equal ground with your enemy so you will only loose if they are better than you (or if you stuff up, like by holding onto 2 Exp pots for to long, not like it even happened to me in a feild pvp quarter final ) not because they played the game longer.

And plz dont say I turned you off UO .

It's ok.. I was more referring to the game in its original format (and it's supposed spiritual successor DF). I'm still willing to give fast gains a go

Darkfall will never be anything like Ultima. That's because UO is so different, hence why 11 years later people are still playing it. People that compare the two will more than likely find little if not no similarities in gameplay and fun.

Too true!

Primeaux, is there any other way we can follow the creation of your server? Will you be setting up an mIRC channel or perhaps a forum/website?

Well Primeaux you've definitely created a bunch of interest for the UO server, I'm looking forward to it =)

Any idea of time frame?
