Got a bit of an issue at the moment We added a second Clown approx 2 weeks weeks. Now the original Clown is becoming very violent toward the new addition, & the new clown spends all it's time hiding behind the rocks.

He darts toward the new Clown constantly, I don't think he actually connects but the new addition seems to be getting manhandled.

Thoughts?

They look so awkward when they swim against a current

Are males aggressive toward one another? territorial at all?

Do they pair for life or are they happy to re bond to others?

Also what happened to that little worm thing?

If they are both males, one will become a female. I'm not sure exactly how long this process takes.

I've read some conflicting info.

"If kept singularly, a clownfish will remain without sex. Being, its neither male or female. Only when paired do they change. A clownfish has the ability to go back and forth between male and no sex, but once its female, it stays female for life."

Not sure if this is true or not. Surely they will rebond?

No idea what happened to the worm, haven't seen it since I took the pics of it..

Update time!

New tri flouro on the the way with Actinic bulb.

Providing 24w total luminosity. Should fit snugly to the existing hood layout. Still contemplating weather I should add a small anemone or not. I think the filtration system may need a bit of a makeover.

Flouro has arrived! Talk about WOW factor, it's like night & day. Has brought the entire tank to life, water looks crystal clear & fish are almost glowing lol. Looks so much more awesome with the tri flour/actinic combo on. Pics really don't do it much justice.

I wasn't going to get an anemone just yet but when I saw it I just had to have it (& it was only $15 ha ha). I added this baby bubble tip yesterday & the smaller of my two clowns jumped STRAIGHT into it lol.. The little clown gets rather aggressive if the anemone is not fully open, thrashing at it to expand tentacles. The anemone hasn't even had a chance to get comfortable & attach onto anything before the clown is man handling it already.

The larger clown is no longer chasing it around & they seem to be getting on very well.

Nice work man. You're lucky the clowns went straight for it. My 2 paired wild clowns took ages to host in my anemone. Its when they do though.

Hey thanks, yeah can take weeks or months. Sometimes they don't pair at all.

But this one took about 1hr & it he was straight into it.

Nice little setup... are you running a protein skimmer on this? I'm considering moving my tropical's from their 71L tank to a 4ft tank when i get married in July (which will give my Silver/Bala Shark room to grow (he's still only small atm)) and then converting the 71L tank to a marine setup... but i thought you had to have a protein skimmer with a marine tank?

Thanks. Skimmer not really necessary on a small tank like this. The aquarium shop across the road from me doesn't run them at all. He said they are not really necessary at all if your filters are doing there job & maintained properly. But I'm not sure about that..

If I had a larger tank I'd definitely be running one. But for now, not a priority.

That bubble tip anemone looks pretty bleached, what sort of lighting do you have on your tank, is it still the stock lighting ? hopefully it will be adequate for the anemone and it will regain some colour for you

Bleached? What do you mean? Looks the same as it did in the shop & very healthy. It's a white anemone. Lighting? I posted the light I'm using 3 posts above

I took a little clip, the last few days they have reverted back to there old ways. But the smaller one is standing up to the larger one much more now.
