ST3500320AS, doh... :P

My original drive died after like 150hours, but the replacement has been ok so far, touch wood.
My brothers drive has been ok since the beginning so far...

Good to see their at least honest about it, and are doing something. Alot of companies just deny everything. The drives have got 5 year warranty anyway, as long as I back up my data regulary (~monthly).

Mine's on the list.
It's been running well for over a month now, any need to worry?
It's got a firmware of SD15, is that outside the danger zone?

I'm currently using an ST3500320AS which is on the list. It seems to be working fine (on Windows) but I couldn't install Ubuntu because it couldn't find a partition.

Do I need to update the firmware or is it unnecessary?

If you don't you take the risk of ending up with a brick. Your choice.

I'd be doing it.

I've got eight of these drives in RAID - the first generation 7200.11 1TB. Three of them have already been replaced - two with "medium error" which suggests bad sectors or read/write errors and one drive which simply stopped working and failed detection by any SATA controller. All drives are running firmware that Seagate have identified as problematic.

One of the replacement drives is also SD15. Is it the firmware at fault or is the firmware a workaround for a physical fault?

Would any of these drives be found in the Seagate Freeagent series?

I have 2 x 1TB SATAII
Both drives are used for backup of my files, had them for about 3 weeks with no problems
7200.11
ST31000333AS - Model
SD15 - Firmware
Both are Made in Thailand

One drive passed SeaTools long drive self test, will test other drive now

Is there anything I can do to my drives or do I need to return them to seagate / shop of purchase

The main problem seems to be on startup, that right?
How about I just leave this box running?
At least until the fix is applied.

Model : ST3750330AS
Revision (Firmware) : SD15

awwww CRAP!. It mentions checking the drive serial number too but on the firmware download page itself it doesn't mention any serial numbers. My drive matches the model and firmware so do I just ignore the part about matching serial numbers?
