I read this also... I ended up going mAtx 780 chipset, but would love a small form factor HTPC / Torrent Boxen...

I'm in the market for a CarPC so I am really excited about the Nvidia Ion platform. I just want it to be released already.

The ION is meant to be cheaper than that... And in a lot of cases I've found the ASUS model to be around the $1,000 mark.

Here's an interesting read for those who missed the OCAU front page...

I'm gonna save my bucks and grab an ION when they're out!

The links I read were stating that the ION will be around the $299 US mark, they were quoted straight from Nvidia's mouth too.

the "ion"? meaning the platform right?

not sure how that equates to an actual product in price?

i would think substantially more than $800AU..............

For those waiting for a netbook with more GPU grunt, its not far away

First Ion-based Netbooks Reportedly on Track for June Debut..

Quote:
Nothing is completely official just yet, but Pocket-lint is reporting that its inside source at NVIDIA has "confirmed" that the initial batch of Ion-based netbooks will be announced at the big Computex trade show at the beginning of June, and that the first few netbooks could start shipping "as early as July." Of course, there's no word on any specific companies involved just yet, with the source only going so far as to say that the announcements will come from some "key players." Acer would seem to be about as close to a sure thing as there is, however, considering that it just recently launched the first Ion-based nettop, the AspireRevo, and that it's never passed up an opportunity to roll out yet another new nettbook in the past.

Just got word from the higher ups at work that they are looking at bringing in some ION based boards if the market is there for them. PM me for details, unless I'm allowed to name names here?
