Mortal Hey all! You guys may remember my recent worklog HERE. I have decided to overhaul it, I wasn't happy with the spray paint - it scratches too easily for my liking. So I thought to myself, "Hmmm," and now I've decided to turn it into a dual loop/insane build. Project name - Mortal One of the definitions of "Mortal" is "Deadly," this build is going to be "killer" Names are really hard to choose, I think this one will suit it perfectly once it's completed! I'm going to be using the same hardware (Maybe changing the GPU to a 4870X2) but looks wise, it'll be a heck different. I'm not going to give TOO many secrets out but I can tell you a few small things - Loop 1 (TFC360/CPU/NB/EK 250/DCC3.2) Loop 2 (Dual radiator/GPU/EK 250res/DCC3.2) Murdermod backplate/top plate/mid plate Powdercoated interior I'm not going to explain my ideas yet, It'll be a surprise! MurderMod parts should be here within the next 2-3 weeks. Liquid cooling gear required for my second loop is yet to be ordered, I need to "save" for a little bit longer! I would like to thank Charles and Nils, both have been VERY inspirational to me and without them, I wouldn't have had such awesome fun/awesome opportunity to do such a thing with a case/sleeving. Cheers guys! Anyway, cut to the point, a nice little package came in the mail today. Vantec NexStar DX 5.25" Enclosure - This babay allows me to have an external DVD drive, it also means I can take it away with my laptop! An external DVD drive costs $130 and this was half the price! Bargin! (no DVD drive is included) Lamptron FAN-ATIC 5-Port Military Switch Baybus - 60watts per channel, normally an average fan uses less than 10watts per channel - nough' said. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ok, so the other night I wasn't sure on how to mount my fan controller since I want the front drive bays free. I came up with one brilliant idea....too bad it would have taken days of work with the dremel! So I asked my brother (1st class boiler maker/welder) to cut me a piece of steel and hole punch it (to my measurements ofcourse!) Today I drilled the holes in the steel and it looks great! Don't forget it'll be powdercoated etc.... before assembly! Murdermod parts = Shipped PetrasTechShop = Being ordered tomorrow (4-5days for shipping) Jab-Tech *BIG ORDER* = (Being order in the next week or 2) MY ghetto marking out for drilling! (after drilling) ![]() Fitted ![]() PERFECT MATCH! ![]() The other side of the bracket supports the PSU which means my fan controller will be at the back of my case down the bottom! I can't wait to see how it'll look installed on the case ![]() Thanks! Last edited by dingdong555; 11th April 2009 at 5:32 PM. |

If you ran say the full 50W through that fan controller would it not get so hot it could possibly melt? i know on my mcfc1 it does get quite warm on the heatsinks with only 5 scythes on board.

Thanks guys.
I need a quick opinion, there are going to be 2 loops, what colour tubes should I have? I was thinking of RED/BLACK then I though RED/WHITE, now I'm totally confused. Any suggestions are appreciated! BTW, Petrastechshop order has been ordered. Performance-pcs order has been shipping. One final order from the US (About $800AUD) which will be from jab-tech. |

Red/White is going to give you more contrast then Red/Black. But I think it's going to really come down to what you prefer. Do a print out of red/black and red/white, sit the piece of paper in the case, rotate, see which fits in your eyes.

why do people not relise that you could make your own external dvd drive for so much cheaper the fact that you can use a cheap external hdd case and make your own closure
