I'm having an odd problem where sometimes my phone is locked and I receive a call it won't let me slide to unlock and answer it. It simply doesn't respond.
As soon it the call hangs up/ends my phone will behave as normal.

It doesn't happen all that often but it's still frustrating, especially when it's from a private number as you have no way of returning the call.

Has anyone else expeienced this? Are there any solutions?

Yeah I was getting the same thing. Did a restore when my Optus unlock went through and it hasn't done it since.

Software bug.

Upgraded and JB to 3.1.3 on the weekend and it seems to have killed my battery life...
I used apt backup before hand, would that have carried over an old setting thats doing it? I also changed from IM+ to ebuddy pro after finding IM+ wants permission to publish to your wall etc for facebook.

Anyone having a similar problem?

Yep - jb mine for the first time in a while the other day on my 3GS after running it standard for about 3 months, and as soon as I did the battery life has instantly gotten far shorter. Back when I did this on my old 3G it didn't seem to make any difference though!

Seems a browse of google turns up that other people are reporting shorter battery life as well as buggy battery life indicators. Mine is significantly shorter than this time last week and usage hasn't changed a bit. Usually browse the net/ chat on IM on the way to work for half an hour, listen to music and be lucky to drop 10% off a full charge, today i dropped close to 30% which is terrible!

Just noticed my back case is bloody cracked from the dock connector upwards. My iPhone3G is 2 years old now. Couple of Q's -
  • How hard is it to replace the rear case? Lots of guides on the screen, but not on the rear case.
  • Is this something that Apple would fix for free, being a known fault and all?

If your phone is in warranty, they'll replace it, otherwise there is a $250 out of warranty replacement

The rear case it quite a bit harder to replace than the screen, and most of the after market cases that you can get are lower quality than original Apple ones which makes it harder again to replace. The tricky bit is in the headphone jack, volume switch and power switch flex assembly, the rest isn't all that hard to do.

2 years old, so won't be in warranty. Bugger it, I'll just sell it as is when I upgrade, it's served me well. Just more of a pain in the arse that a phone that has been treated well and looked after is damaged through a crappy design.

I think most electronic items (especially phones) are pretty much seen/treated as disposable now. Their warranties certainly suggest that.
