Hey all,
I recently purchased a HP DV5 1139tx Laptop, and im loving it. only problem is, the res on the scree that came with it is quite small (1280x800). Im wondering if anyone knows where i can purchase a replacement screen that would work with it with a res of 1680x1050. (Ive borrowed a HP Compaq nx8220 laptop from work which has a 15" screen running a res of 1680x1050, would a panel for one of these work in my DV5?) Thanks all. |

I don't know for sure if you can or not, but I imagine doing so would void the warranty. Just a heads up in case you hadn't considered that

As far as I know it is possible but very complicated.
You have to track down an LCD that uses the same cable/signal (check your panel against the SPWG site:, if it uses the same type of standard, this should be easy) Then you have to make sure the panel is the same size, and has the same mounting holes. Then, the really tricky bit, is you have to find a bios editing program for your graphics chipset, and change the LVDS settings. Possible, but hard. |
