No option for a higher res screen? It would be usable, but more screen real estate would be mighty useful for archicad and any form of video editing.

Also, for that money i would be looking at some of what Lenovo has to offer. A mate was looking at a studio 16 too until i pointed him to the lenovo site.

yeah thanks, i definately wanna buy dell though because the laptop is just too damn sexy (http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/prod...~tab=designtab awwww shit yeah).

The screen should be alright for light gaming, i have a pc-compatible tv to hook it up to for games nights and serious CADDING. are the specs alright for gaming/CAD/video though?

The specs seem alright. But still, not sure about the build quality and the screen res just doesnt sit well with me. Wouldnt be surprised if your TV didnt give you any more resolution than the standard screen in the notebook does.

Back with the lenovos though, current 20% coupons bring something like the 15" W series down pretty close to what you have on the studio but a fair bit gruntier. It just doesnt have the looks that the studio does, but thats all personal opinion.

the higher res screen would be very handy for CAD purposes and from the reviews i have read, the RGBLED screen is very, very good.

Well worth the extra price imo.

(just kidding, thanks so much for sharing your perspective)

despite your recommendations, i had a look, and its just not sexy enough. im definately going with the studio 16, does anyone have any advice regarding whether the "512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 Graphics Card" is any good for gaming?

Haha, I wish.

Seriously though, function over form for me. Yeah, something may look good, but its useless if it breaks after a few months or over heats from bad design where it counts.

The graphics card should be adequate I guess. Not really up to date on games or hardware needed to run them. Should get away with most things though.

It'll be ok. According to Notebookcheck it sits somewhere between the 8600M GT and the 9600M GT which have been the mainstream 'gaming' GPUS in lappies in more recent time.

I'd also second the better res screen for the RGBLED.

Yeah go for the higher screen. It is the best screen I have seen on any laptop. Very clear and everything looks good on it.
