Yah i got the letter in the mail, it will save them heaps of money and make harder to read the bill online for those less tech savy.

I already made the move to online payment, not giving them anymore money than they deserve.

It's a paper invoice fee. Sign up online to My Account and you get your bills online?

Wow, who would've thought it was so fucking simple to read the letter they've sent out to every customer.

But I'll bet your bill is not reduced by the amount of the new charge. It's just another way to get more money out of you while claiming it's saving you money. Did the letter let out a waft of poo smell when you opened it?

Regards,
g@z.

who wins? certainly not the customer.

If they want online bills they should offer a $2.20 discount to switch to it not charge you for paper bills.

Now if you want a hard copy of the bill you have to print one out yourself which costs you money.

----

I have switched to online billing and have setup an email alert but im not happy

I will most likely change companies when my contract expires.

Wow a whole $2.20 Everyone is starting to do this, I no longer recieve my bank statements in the mail and a few of my bills. Sounds like a great way to stop wasting paper.

Yes a whole $2.20.

For those on a sim only plan, the cost is around 40% of their entire bill.

If there was even a hint that this was covering the costs to Optus of generating a paper bill then it wouldn't be so offensive.

How about the thousands of people who don't / cant use the internet?

I found signing up to get the paper bills a bit of a pain. That myaccount system for optus is annoying! It was down for a week when I first tried signing up too.

You pay the $2.20! Is this difficult to comprehend? They don't print and mail themselves...

Actually it is. If you don't go to online billing you get charged $2.20. If you do, you don't have to pay $2.20.

It's not fucking rocket science.

You remind me of people who don't pay their bill then have a cry when they get a dishonor or overdrawn fee.

I can't believe the number of people defending a blatant price gouge. Is anyone trying to say that it actually costs Optus $2.20 to print a paper bill?

Or is it rather that arbitrary and unjust charges are somehow acceptable?

Sure most people have an option. But should they be forced to do it?

If Optus implemented a policy where they would add $50 to your bill for holding your phone in your right hand then the solution is easy - use your left hand! But how stupid to suggest this as being reasonable.

I have had the pleasure of working for optus, and I have questioned similar decisions in the past, and have been assured it was about revenue raising and there was no justification for the cost.

What a bizarre, bizarre world we live in that people are content with that - not just complacent about it but will condescendingly defend it!

Just... wow.
