Was just wondering if anyone knows if the Globalwin FOP38 will fit on a KR7A without squashing the cpu? i need a 100% confirmation as i want to put these two together now.
Cheers Krys. |

it 'fitting' and 'squashing the cpu' would be 2 different things (unless you decided to force it on despite it not fitting)
the fop has not been known for squashing cpus, but be careful. |

shouldn't be a problem. The fop ain't a huge heatsink in terms of weight. It has a pretty nasty clip though. When you're attaching it, be careful!
I just hope you know what you're getting yourself into. I've got a fop38 :P it has a pretty loud fan! If you're asking if the FOP38 fits on the KR7A, yes it should fit fine. There was a problem with it fitting on much earlier Abit boards coz of the capacitors, but there's more than ample room on the KR7A |

![]() Thanks for the encouragement mate. Nah, usually stuff like this wouldnt be a prob, but my mate said he tried to put the FOP32-1 (which is the balck socket 370 model i think) and it resulted in a dead CPU. So i thought id just check to be sure. Anyway thanks for the replies guys, will give it a go tonight. Krys. |

The only way putting a heatsink on will kill your CPU is if you attempt to install it incorrectly and crush the core...
Unless the HS has a particularly dodgy clipping mechanism ![]() The FOP38 should be fine, I'd suggest installing the HSF on the mobo without the CPU a few times so you get the feel of how the clipping mechanism works! |

i recommend installting heatsink and removing it after you install it and check that the core of cpu has made 100% contact to the heatsink ( i.e the Thermal paste will be nicely imprinted on HS ) , also kinda hold heatsink flat on core then push down clip to keep even preasure on cpu
