Default Who else but Dell?

So, the Dell Studio 1555 I ordered 2 weeks ago stopped starting after a week and started beeping 7 times when I attempt to start it up. I've rang Dell and after being on hold after a total of 1 hour, I managed to speak to the support member who asked me to:

1) try removing the RAM and putting it back
2) try removing the hard disk and putting it back
3) try removing the graphics card and putting it back !!!!

And if doing these steps don't help, someone will be sent down to replace the motherboard for me. Unfortunately, he never did get back to my emails when I confirmed that nothing he had suggested work. I had to send an email to the sales person before I got another phone call where they basically discouraged me from returning or obtaining a complete replacement of the laptop as it will take 3-4 weeks while a repair will only be 2-3 days. Is this normal?

If I don't receive contact from Dell within the next 48 hours, I'll probably lodge a claim with my credit card company as they provide an extended warranty program on the purchase.

Now, if I am to buy another replacement laptop, which company should I choose to avoid the same lack lustre customer support?

does sound like a RAM issue, chase them up - their service is pretty good.

I've found Dell's service good to satisfactory... other than them sending multiple items of the same order

Personally I've found it to be excellent, turn around times have been brilliant.

7 beeps indicate a CPU Cache test failure (For Intel CPU only).

So a Dell tech came over and replaced the entire motherboard and still no go. Now they suspect the power button is broken and need to place an order for the part, then come in with it to replace.
