I'm currently using the Zalman ZM-NC2000 Ultra Quiet Notebook Cooler in Silver. Does the job okay, but once you crank it up it sounds like the central heatsink has turned on from a distance. Its not loud, but defiantly noticeable when ramped up.

Something to consider if you like to make sure your gear is dust free after being used for a long period. Personally i like the look of the coolermaster one: http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?...oducts_id=6045 |

Tend to be a waste of money, and sometimes they can even increase your laptop temperature when the fans are misaligned with the laptop one(s), disrupting the airflow.
They are also noisy due to the small fans spinning at high speed or if it has a low speed option it becomes close to having no fan. Best and cheapest way to drop a few degrees is to prop up the back and increase the clearance between the laptop and desk for better airflow. Last edited by SAK; 4th April 2009 at 5:39 PM. |

Depends on your laptop...my XPS 1530 sucks air from under the laptop so I use the Coolermaster Notepal which blows air upwards.
Helps heaps even if you don't have the fan on...1530 tends to heat up alot. |

I think what helps most is the act of elevating the laptop such that there's more available air underneath the laptop for the heat to be dissipated/cool air to be sucked in. It's a bonus if the fans on the cooler can be aligned to do the same act as pushing/pulling for the internal laptop fans.
Even so I don't think there can be a world of difference to be found with notebook coolers. They all tend to heat up and it's something you have to live with. |

Take one eraser.
Cut it in half. Place one half at each ends underneath the laptop (matching the feets) and voila! Instant temp reduction.

I was thinking about getting one for my fujitsu as the thing just about puts third degree burns on your legs. Then I worked out the docking station works beautifully for the job. Almost as if it was designed for the task of cooling down this little sucker.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kG_SgpHSX8 It's a bit more bulky than the naked tablet, but worth it to save you from roasted nuts. |
