Hi Guys,
My dad was just you using our laptop which is a Acer Aspire 3681, when all of a sudden it just died, though it was not the battery as it was plugged into power. Now it does not boot at all, the standby light doesn't come on or anything. What could be wrong with it, does it have an internal power supply which could have blown? Cheers slamaa

Yes.
Ill bet it is the AC jack (though I could be wrong). I managed to fix the wifes by ordering a $2 part and soldering it on, though it was a real bastard of a job (But how cheap laptops are I thought it was worth the risk) http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_...CK+ACER+ASPIRE

Do you have a multimeter? I'd be testing the DC side of the adapter to see whether or not it is still functioning correctly.
Going by past experience (fixing Acers), Acer adapters die an awful lot, so it's quite a possibility there.
