Ok, Lenovo has 20% off (already apparently pretty discounted )T series over this weekend, and Dell has a $200 cash back offer on Vostros.
I need to pick up a machine for one of my staff. It's mostly for spreadsheeting, the occasional word processing and emailing. I've heard good things about Lenovo and am tending towards the T400 or T500 for $1500. Not sure which one of these two to pick but thinking the T500 as the base model comes with 6-cell battery while the T400 base model is 4-cell. I've got to decide in the next day, so if anyone has any suggestions, would be great to hear them! Cheers, Last edited by antipody; 11th April 2009 at 9:59 PM. |

Check out Notebookreview for more details on each model and how they perform.
From what I've read, the T400 is an excellent unit. The T400 comes with a 6-cell battery to my knowledge which gets almost 6 hours of light use. Also the build quality and keyboard are the best going around. For what you want it for, it's a great deal. 20% isn't the best deal they will have. They had 30-35% off sale recently which was better value, but this isn't bad either.

After going through the shopping cart options I'm tending towards the T500 now. It's a work machine, but hey, it's always nice to be able to play games I guess. So, the shopping cart says AU$1,954.93 for this: Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8400 (2.26GHz 1066MHz 3MBL2) Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium US English 15.4" WXGA TFT with LED Backlight ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 256MB 2 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 (1 DIMM) US English Keyboard 250GB Hard Disk Drive, 5400rpm DVD Recordable, Ultrabay Slim Express Card & PC Card Slots Integrated Bluetooth PAN Intel WiFi Link 5100 Modem Yes - AMoM 6 cell Li-Ion Battery 90W AC Adapter; ANZ For the same money I can get a shiny aluminium Macbook. Hrmmm. Oh well, got 33 hours to make up my mind. |

you can't fault lenovo's build quality.
my only suggestion is if it is a work machine and is important to the day-to-day tasks, then get the extra warranty and support package.

Same applies to those shiny new Macbooks. For $2100 I can get a 13 incher.
Lenovo have only given me 6 more hours to make my mind up, so I'm thinking it might be the Macbook after all... Or I could get 2 cheapy 15 inch vostros for that. Offer expires 15/4 Looks like they are dumping their LCDs onto the market nice and cheap as theres no LED versions on the menu. Last edited by DiGiTaL MoNkEY; 15th April 2009 at 2:30 PM. |

Tis a good deal however you can only get it when you downgrade the screen from WXGA+ to a WXGA screen. It's just a regular 20% like last week except people finally realised that you can save lots of money by getting the lower res screen.
35% March sales were much better... but I guess this is a good deal too.
