Hey Guys
Well im a pretty big tard, picked up my Aspire 6920 by the side of the screen on saturday and managed to crack the LCD panel. I've rung a coulpe of places this morning asking how much for a new panel, and several have said $500 or more for the panel alone then more for fitting...Am I getting fucked or is this the standard price?? I had a quick look at Ebay and came up with THIS does anyone know if these are the same panels as factory ones, and would there be any issue if i bought the Ebay panel and got somewhere to install it for me?? Thanks in Advance Regards Dickhead

Price sounds fairly spot on - Ive found laptop panels to range between $500 and $1200 (the latter being for the Macbook Air - that was a fun experience).

1. it's not 1080i, and 2. it's not at all convenient to have to lug your laptop plus a monitor around with you - the idea of a laptop is to be portable. To the OP, what you have found appears like it'd be fine, however just an idea - I have a feeling a lot of those new, cheap, 16" widescreen LCD's (desktop LCDs) that are being sold for like $120 would be using the same panel. If you want to save even more money, maybe look in to this? I cannot guarantee anything but it's worth a look in my opinion to save $120pp! Also be careful that a non-genuine part or non-factory supplied part may void your warranty.

It's quite fucked getting replacement parts. I went through ebay after my sister cracked my aspire one's screen. Saved about $30 compared to the acer resellers. Still cost me $150 though.
Pretty shit considering you use to be able to get the cheapo 8 gig model for $320.
