Smile OCAU Camera Club Mark II

Last updated 01/10/09 - 1.40pm

PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!

Background
sir_bazz and myself had a quick chat, and you guys thought it would be a good idea too, so here it is - OCAU Camera Club Mark II! The original OCAU Camera Club thread can be found here.

The OCAU CCm2 will list willing members of OCAU's Photography sub-forum, from beginners to working pros. Whilst people are encouraged to post their gear and wares and link back in their signatures, I personally hope that this club will help facilitate potential meet up/shoots based on the geographical location of each member. It's all about creating more opportunities to get out there (or into studios) and shoot! This listing may also be helpful for the non-photographers of OCAU to help identify their local shooters for potential commissions.

I will be updating the list as often as it is feasible, and as we get a bigger statistical sample I'll start churning out some random stats about the community.

Post Format
Please use the following general format for consistency. Provide as much or as little information as you please, but at least put a location in there!

If you have any major changes to your equipment after your original post, please send me a PM so I can update accordingly (for stats purposes, not essential).

Biography: Started on a 4MP Canon Powershot and purchased an Olympus E410 a few months before they were superceded. Wasn't happy with that and jumped to the Nikon D40x which I had for no more than 2 months before I added a D200 to the lineup. I now do band promos, weddings and landscapes when I get the chance.

Hmm... I still have a Canon Powershot around here somewhere....

Biography:
My first taste of photography Was using an old Digital camera which shot in sequence mode, it saved files onto a floppy disk haha. My parents had a Canon Eos SLR they purchased for traveling over seas, and after they got back they never used it, So I adopted it for a short while, learning the basics. My parents decided to purchase a digital body, and at the time the 30D was hot stuff, unfortunately I never really got to use it as they soon moved to NSW. I purchased a Sony T70 and this was my first Digital camera I owned myself, I bought the camera Because I liked the look of the photos, aswell as the Macro mode. A few of my friends Had digital SLR's, and I have always wanted one, so I decided to go out and buy one. I purchased A Canon 40D with a nifty fifty and that was all I needed to get going. I was on a budget, and so did lots of DIY stuff. I was in my local camera store, getting some prints done when I had about 15 minutes to wait, so I thought myself, I'll give a 5D Mark II a try, see what its like. This was the begining of the end, my 40D just felt so inferior after playing with the 5D II, and my various assortment of lenses had nothing on the Canon 24-105/4L. As expected, I bought a 5D Mark II, and some nice pieces of glass, and the rest of the gear I wanted and from that day on have not looked back.

Biography: Currently studying engineering at QUT in Brisbane. I Decided to get into photography as a hobby in dec 08. I've always loved the high quality photos that SLR's produce and wanted to experiment with one myself. Been loving it so far, and I'm expanding my knowledge and gear slowly but surely. I'm always looking for a bargain or a way to get that "pro look" without spending too much money...gotta love being a student.
