Unhappy Windows 200 SP2 issues?

I installed SP2 and every thing started out ok. Games ran smoother and all was well....

however, lately I am getting problems with Outlook and IE 5.5

They dont crash but take a long time to recover if something happens that they dont like. Sometimes I need to go to task manager and set high priority. They do recover but its a pain in the ass.

I think my other programs are getting flaky too.

Any suggestions / observations. Im running a p3 667@750 with 256 kingmax.

Cheers

If you installed it, without reading the documentation, and understanding it, and deciding if you really needed it or not, then, well, you deserve any problems you get.

Sounds harsh, but running Win2K isn't the same as running Win9X/ME - you need to actually have a better idea of what you're doing when running Win2K, as once things go wrong with Win2K, they're harder to fix.

READ the documentation. There are release notes for SP2 that tell you what fixes it includes. If you don't need it, don't install it.

It all comes back to a simple phrase: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Point taken. I threw it on my test box first and nothin seemed to change though. I presumed it was mostly networking things and various upgrades a business would use so i havent put it on this pc yet. Dont think i will either as you said if it aint broke and so on!

Cool Repair the IE m'boy

Go take a look under add/remove programs and repair IE5.5

It will re-install the IE DLL's and with luck, fix your problems.

I agree though, go check out the documentation before diving into service packs. In saying that however, SP2 offers ATA100 support for the first time natively under Win2k. A compelling reason to upgrade to be sure.
