Default Reconstructed Folder - Set up of HFM.NET

I have downloaded HFM.NET 6.2.0 this morning, but i am struggleing to set it up or find a guide for the same.
That is add the clints etc. I have managed to DL the latest projects but that is it.

An hours worth of surfing and forum reading has not helped except to show that others have implimented this like a duck to water.

And left me humbled, but not dented my want to see this through

I am guessing it is staight forward, though for me the penny has not dropped.

Please any suggestions welcome.

Sean

P.S. $10.00US to Harlem357 this morning also. [jsclark]

Hi Sean,

I'm assuming you've set up the clients already?
In which case, go to Clients > Add Client, give it an Instance Name and MHz if you want and just use the root directory for your SMP/GPU folder for the Log Folder e.g for me its C:\FAH SMP.

Click test connection to make sure its working

Hope that helps.

Instance Name? I am not sure what this refers too.

The root directory has me struggleing too, as it is a Win7 rig and I have not nutted out displaying the file path to cut and paste, as mine is quite convoluted.

Not all

Instance name - usually whatever you want to call it, for eg the name of the card/core ect....

Root directory - on win 7, navigate as normal to the directory, and then in the top where it has c > blah > blah > blah, right click and copy address as text, will give you what you want.

Hi sean_oz

EDIT: Leroy beat me to it

Have a look at this guide on the evga forum, hopefully it helps.

The instance name is just whatever you want to call that particular folding client.

As for finding the full path to your clients:
  • Navigate in explorer to the client folder
  • Right click in the folder hierarchy line (I think Windows calls it the location bar) at the top of the window that shows the tree of folders you are in
  • Choose copy address
Windows will nicely copy the full path in to the clipboard that you can then paste into the HFM add client dialog.

Heres a screenie of my HFM Setup:

You display the bottom panel using F8, and can turn the queue display on the left on and off using the long thin Show/Hide Queue button.

To get the stats in the bottom line you need to add your EOC details into the Edit -> Preferences->Web Settings dialog.

Remember to save your config using File->Save Config, and then specify that config in the start up options in Edit->Preferences->Startup and External tab.

I have found it easier over time to install all my folding clients in a single parent directory off the root of the drive, along with all my folders that hold all my FAH utilities like HFM, WinAFC and Trayit (or at least their config files in HFMs case). Can make it much easier when the inevitable upgrades/Win reinstall come around:

C:\FAH
C:\FAH\GPU1
C:\FAH\GPU2
C:\FAH\SMP
C:\FAH\HFM
C:\FAH\Winafc...

you get the drift

Cheers and HTH

Graham

GA,
Thanks all this is welcome, I had the basics sorted and have saved my config.

I'll have to sort out a log error on a networked machine that is reporting incorrectly but will run oneunit and correct when it is finnished in a few hours.

Again thanks all

Sean
