yes I should have worded myself better

what I have noticed with different intel cpu packdates that every now and then there is a new stepping, these newer steppings are often better, and the packdates are related to the steppings because the new intels arent kept in stock at the warehouses for long

It looks like there are 2 different 2.26 specs - SL683 and SL67Y. Both are B0 stepping, but have different order codes. Anyone know what difference there are between the two ?
no difference! The SL683 is the boxed one, and the SL67Y is the OEM version.

but there is only one stepping for the 2.26 until now. Performance differences within one stepping - I regard as random results. And what we get here with our 2.26 is so close together and TOTALLY different from the differences with AMD Athlons, that I almost suspect that Intel has better quality assurance.

all our 2.26 are within 100 or 50 Mhz, that is at around 3000 Mhz, a deviation of not more than than 3%, for me clearly within the margin of error. The differences for Athlons are 5 times bigger.

Same

I found a dood with a 40x50cm 19cfm fan he said and Im going to find out where he got it and then somehow use it with the default NS HS or else get a zalman and some ruber foam stuff...Just need to find it...

I was looping 3dmark tonight @ 2949 @ 1.69 volts and my alarm for 75degrees for NB went off and I was like wtf!! But the cpu with the water on it now runs at nice at a max of 45ish.

I havnt been able to get my 3gig feat gain and I think that is 100% due to the NB being hotter cos there is no air at all being passed onto it with no heatsink on the cpu.....a problem i need to rectify asap....if so I think I could run this baby 3gig stable.....maybe
hehehe

In the Intel spec sheet the SL67Y is available in both versions, the other 2.26 only boxe. So I fear yours is a fake from one of these Chinese plumbers. That would explain why you are hanging behind, no ?

I thought I would give the new P4a chip set a go.

I picked up a 2.0a GHz chip, A Soltek SL-85DRV4 M/B ATA133, a stick of Corsair 512Mb XMS-3200 DDR Ram and 2 80g ATA133 HD's.

What I am so impressed about is the Over Clock.
So far with this M/B and I will need to find a better one to go faster.

ATM its running @ 2.64 4x132MHz 1.7V
32-35 Idle
42-45 Full load
Not one crash, looped 3DMark2001se 10 times and Sandra soft burn in for 1hour no problems.

@ just under $400 (Chip)I am very very pleased.
Might take it back and grabbed a 2.26, 533MHz.

If anyone wants it they can have it for what I paid so I can get the 2.26 one

I have been an Athlon man for a long time but not no more.

With the right M/B and the 2.26, 3gig should not be to hard.

2gig to 2.6 is a pretty good overclock percentage wise.

I'd sell the chip and mobo complete if I where you

For all those who think that a July packed malay is the better than others:

bummer
Again: My feeling here: all current B have the same stepping, and the very small differences we see are all random.
