Default UK Wii in OZ; What will work?

Hey,

I just came back from the UK and my gf is going to be following me in a few months' time. As we have a UK Wii and a few games, I'd like to ask if they will work fine in Oz? I assume that the console will be fine with a converter, but will:

1) Oz Wii accessories work with a UK Wii console?

2) Oz Wii games work with a UK Wii console without the use of a modchip? If not, is there anything we can do short of modifying it to get them to work? Or will we be better of ordering games from UK sites?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,
StOo.

The australian wii actually runs the firmware x.xE so in actual fact the european and australian wii are the same unit so all Australian and european games (same anyway) should all work. If they dont you can install a backup loader to remove region protection for games.

Accessories will work fine, no matter what region the console/accessories are from.

Australia is PAL - if the UK is PAL then Games sold here will work fine. (which if this map is correct, UK is considered PAL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PAL-NTSC-SECAM.svg )

Otherwise, you have two options:

1) Mod the Wii to play PAL games
2) Order your games from somewhere that sells whatever version of wii you have (be it NTSC or SECAM)

No converter is needed, as UK is the same as AUS, 220v-240v.

They will work, as they all PAL.

Do you mean that your UK TV didn't work in Aus? That won't affect a UK Wii working on an Aus PAL tv though, will it?

TV's didn't used to work when brought over due to frequencies for tuning. Not so much of an issue now with digital TV anyway.

A UK Wii is identical to an AU Wii, bar the power plug. Games etc are exactly the same - UK games will work on AU Wii and vice versa.

Just change the firmware on the Wii to a aussie one.

Id recommend 3.2E , then you wont have any problems.

Ive seen some fellow run two different firmwares on the wii console using a extra nand chip.
