Forcing the game to dx9 did the trick, no idea why that happened

I've been playing this a fair bit recently after getting it off Steam. A lot of fun, my only problem is the heavy focus on levelling and small number of maps. Still great fun though.

small there are quite a few now??? not including veitnam there must be around 10 maps... with the different game modes that show and focus on different parts of the maps as well.

there isn't really any focus on leveling but you need points to unlock weapons.

played bfbc2 for a few hours now.... quite good and being a new player isn't too unreasonable.

Bloom pisses me off though

you cna disable bloom in the setting ini file under my documents.

this is what i have at the moment for a OC'd 4850 and i get 60-100 FPS

Code:
[WindowSettings]
Width=1280
Height=1024
Fullscreen=false
RefreshRate=60.019741
VSync=false
[Sound]
Quality=high
VoipEnable=true
SpeakerCount=0
[Graphics]
Effects=medium
Soldiers=high
Vehicles=high
Overgrowth=high
Undergrowth=high
StaticObjects=high
Terrain=high
Shadows=medium
Bloom=false
HSAO=false
MSAA=1
Water=medium
MainQuality=custom
Texture=high
DxVersion=auto
Aniso=4
Detail=high
RenderAheadLimit=2
Fov=78
HSAO smashes DX10 cards it is much less of a perf hit on DX11 cards.

I suppose I just expected more maps.

Sorry, that's what I meant. For the first few unlocks of the recon class the weapons are pretty poor in comparison to the other classes. Feels like I have to grind getting kills in that class just to enjoy it later.

some servers don't seem to be rotating the new maps.. look out for oasis, harvest day, heavy metal, and cold war in the rotation

hey so i finally bought bfbc2, used to be a massive massive fan of bf2 and yes i was a pizza hut noob lol but im a fairly big gamer so nothing really new to me in terms of learning gameplay and adapting to another fps

been following this thread a bit and it seems like there is a waaaaaaay bigger emphasis on squad teamwork and i was just wondering what the learning curve in this squad together-ness is. am i gonna be straight-off-the-bat raged at when i start up my first match for not covering my squad? how similar will the transition as a cs:s, bf2, ns, dod, and newly tf2 player be?

I haven't been raged at yet, but I found the learning curve very steep in terms of just about everything (I still don't know how you win or lose a game lol)
Yeah sticking with a squad is always a good idea
