Um don't all the new HD5870 have 2xDVI 1XHDMI and 1XDisplayPort. I would think the reference HD5870X2 would be the same.

EDIT:: Apparently some Euro stores are already taking pre-orders for the HD5870X2.

I really would like to get more clarification on this ...

I have never seen a powered Displayport->DVI adapter ...

I really wish there was someone out there who has the card and 3 x DVI LCDs who can test it soon!

Shes a beauty :-)

EDIT: Also good to see that it scales nicely even on lower resolutions...

Correct, we just got stock of the HIS, I've taken it out of the box and it has 2 x DVI, 1 x hdmi and 1 x displayport.

Um.... will the 5870x2 fit into any popular cases? That thing is enormous! Must be biggest graphics card to date.

crossfire junkies... (alba/DM etc) read this review!

http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon...-test-review/1

i just got through it... i jizzmed in my pants... in some games seeing almost 100% increase in performance with a 2nd card... some games only 20%... but overall massive increases and smashes the GTX285 SLI in almost every round...

for all you whingers - this is the review... we now have a solid review to test equal grounds (2x gtx285 SLI and 2x hd5870 CF) even the gtx295 gets smashed but i dont consider it an even playing ground...

also - 2 games ended up being bottlenecked by a 3.75ghz oc i7 965... so there was still more to come!

i am no longer considering the 5870x2... it looks like 2-3 hd5870's will be plenty for gaming and some benching... now to wait for 2gb cards

Well I understand vendor verdicts. No one was talking about which vendor was bad though.

I appreciate that perhaps the comparison as to the variation in aussie prices and why may have been a little off topic but I am genuinely interested in whether we can talk about price bargains both in Australia and overseas whether they be from sponsors or not in this thread.

The blanket statement that no one can talk about prices at all while one actively sells on price seems wrong.

Do you reckon a case like the lancool PC-k60 (http://www.lancoolpc.com/flashpage/k60/) will accomodate these cards? It looks like it has 290mm of space width wise if the specs are to believed though I heard someone say 285mm at one stage.

http://www.lancoolpc.com/en/product/...ndex=62&g=spec

290MM from expansion slot to drive bay frames...

HD5870 from memory is 280MM

if the drive bay frame/cage was forward facing and not side facing... you could make it fit...

but unfortunately not sorry

youre gonna have to find a case that has more room or forward facing bays

You can check all the answers from a link posted earlier from widescreen gaming:
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com...=asc&start=150

Answers are:
1) So far, no, 3 x DVI doesn't seem like it's working. Normal passive dongles don't seem to work. You will need active conversion between DP to DVI. The standard DP on the 5870 does not activate DVI compatible signal if there are more than two monitors attach.

2) You can get powered displayport -> DVI
http://www.bizlinktech.com/future_displayport.html
But no one is game enough to try it yet.

The one with this info -

Quote:
DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual Link Adapter Cable

The DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual-Link cable adapter enables the connection of your DisplayPort supported computer to a DVI supported monitor or other display. It works with either dual-link or single-link digital DVI connections supporting up to dual-link resolutions. Simply connect the DisplayPort end of the connector to your computer and plug your existing DVI cable from the display into the DVI adapter. The built-in USB cable connects to your PCˇ¦s USB port providing power to the cable adapter. Set-up is complete. The circuitry built-into the cable adapter seamlessly converts the DisplayPortˇ¦s video signal into a DVI high-resolution digital video signal.
