It only spins up on post and then spins down quickly after. I was replying to earlier posts where people complained about their cards spinning up on post. Under load mine never goes above 33%. Personally if it spins up quickly on post and drops back down again, who gives a shit. That was my response. Might have misconstrued my meaning on the first post and if so I apologise.

My 4870x2 does it as well, ever since I flashed it's bios to an Asus TOP and back again/

Yeah my 2x HD4870x2 do that with stock bios, which is normal. Flashing to custom Asus TOP bios fixed it http://i4memory.com/f18/hd4870x2-cro...op-bios-11471/

I hate it, thats why I asked.

Eva - I did that mod ages ago to my sons 4870 and it was fine for a long time but it seems to have reverted and is heaps noisey now, seems odd.

5750:1680x1050
5770.1920x1080.
5850: Overkill for 1920x1080 works great for 2560x1600.
5870: Overkill for 1920x1200 great for 2560x1600.
5970: basically, enough for anything you ever will need.(yes even crysis)

Eyefinity however changes stuff a little.
If you use 1440x900 x3 screens I guess a 5770 is ok.
If your going 1680x1050 and up to 1920x1200 a 5850 is minimum and overclocked it offers tremendous value.
2560x1600 x3 screens then a 5870 edition6 with 2gb ram (isnt out yet) is recomendable or a 5970 with 4gb ram. (isnt out yet tho).

People run crossfire 5970 with eyefinity and 4gb ram is needed when pushing higher resolution screens especially with AA/AF.

I run as far, a 4.2ghz i7 and a 1ghz if needed 5850 using 1920x1080 x3 ie 5760x1080 eyefinity great atm.

The ati cards is aimed at different resolutions, this is why some think a 5770 is bandwidth limited. iot is when going higher resolutions.

Thx, in my estimate, the cards are aimed for resolutions people use at home.
Many complain about 5770 isnt enough as it becomes bandwidth limited vs the for example 4890.
The design of the 5700 series however makes sense if you look at resolutions.
and besides, a 5770 runs dx11 which with eyefinity allows a more immersive gaming for the year to come that no other card from previous gen can do.
