Yes it was ATI Tray Tools!

Worked quite well. Especially the profile manager is great. And you can force Vsync and Triple Buffering just like with Riva Tuners Direct3D Overrider.

It also has a onscreen display option that can display temps and clocks and things like that in realtime...

More Sneak Peek at Asus HD 5970 Ares Graphics Card

Quote:
Yesterday we reported Asus Radeon HD 5970 Ares graphics card coming from their famous ROG series, and the Semiaccurate site has scored a couple of pictures of its PCB.

Compared to the reference design, the PCB looks higher, allowing more space for wiring, but the catch is very few chassis would hold such a monster.

Each of the two GPUs are served by 4-phase power supply, and 4GB memory is equipped. Noteworthily, the card employs 8pin+8pin+6pin power design, and sports core/memory clock of 850/1200MHz, so it should suck much power.

Standard 5970..

+1. Looks awesome, i would much prefer a taller card like than than a long one. Why dont more cards get wider and not longer?

Why does the standard one look so "busy" and the Asus one look empty ?

The larger PCB does help and i'm sure they got rid of a lot of parts that they didn't need or were able to find some alternatives that were more reliable.

I would imagine we will see these card in the hands of top overclockers pushing some serious wattage.

"so it should suck much power."

Says it all! Can't wait to see this benched (by someone else ) what an insane piece of hardware. 5970 on steroids!

Awesome!!

Will their be anyone on this forum who will get one?

On another note I have given up waiting.

Which is better - seem to be virtually identical so it's a choice between a sword, chickybabe or the time tunnel. All about the same price. HIS is cheapest pick up MSY if in stock. The other two around about $520 plus delivery...

HIS 5870
Sapphire 5870
Manli 5870

OR Vapor X for about $600 including delivery...

it didn't play happy with the latest detonator driver 10.2

maybe it was me, maybe it was incompatibility

but after booting into windows after a little tweaking i got (pale) blue screens of death (not the standard ones at all) and on one strange occasion vertical stripes of red and black

had to remove and reinstall the catalyst stuff after eventually killing tray tools in safe mode, but i think i'll read further before i waste an hour or two again

i'd say not recommended for beginners , and i'm not a beginner
