I've got 4 out of the 10 indie games already.

It wouldn't be so bad if we got a "credit" for buying the same game twice, even if it's a "gift" credit - like they did with the Orange Box and HL2.

Seems we can now buy Red Faction Guerrilla on Steam with the pre-order bonus RF1 and RF2 - for the bargain price of US$69.99!

BTW GamersGate are still offering it for US$39.95 - assuming you can put up with their crap download speeds.

I really really REALLY wanted to get Fallout 3 for $24.95 USD or 15.50 GBP or direct2drive.. i spend about 6-7 hours trying all sorts of proxies/vpns/socks/TOR clients etc but try as i might, i couldn't budge it.. I really don't see why we should have to pay $89.95 AUD for a downloadable game, when its a $30 game now. Yes, we could go on about how its protecting the local industry etc, but seriously, its very little forethought from them . Instead, i'm going to get it from dvd.co.ul for $38 delivered. I'm now going to go out of my way to never ever EVER buy anything from a local distributor again, i hope they die a slow and horrible death..

Welcome to what I've been doing. Only I make sure I walk into EB every day and tell themhow much I paid for things.

They are now moving far more to the console area than anything else. Bring on real networks with downloadable games for those and bam. THey are completely out of the game. Until then people WILL pay $40 extra on a game for being an Aussie.

yep, was at our local EB today.. orange box, $99. left 4 dead, $99.

many other games ~double what id pay for them elsewhere.

i got orange box at the start of the year for $15, ffs.. and not from some grey import place or some foreign store - direct from steam..
pathetic.

I thought it would be easy, Just use a web browser with proxy settings (and a US proxy) and log into http://store.steampowered.com/

Looks doable but I don't want to get banned.

What method did you use?

Every proxy I have tried will not work. I will be glad to test the method if you can provide instructions.

Cheers. Worked a treat.

Steps taken:

1. Get a good private proxy ^_^
2. Create a new steam account
3. Add your actual account, to the new steam account friend list.
4. Do the same on actual account, so both accounts are linked as friends.
5. Activate proxy
6. Buy the game, gift the game to your account from new account
7. Pay via a method that doesn't check country. I used Mastercard. Visa checks I believe. Paypal also failed.
8. Once paid, send it, confirm it all, then turn off proxy and sign out of new account.
9. Sign into steam and viola, game appears. Click activate and away it goes.

The Witcher EE for $30 $US
