It gets better, I've had to send a support ticket. I'm close to completing the download and the getgames downloader has disappeared from my desktop.

A reboot of the PC hasn't made it come back and if I double click the "GetGames_Battlestations_Pacific.exe" again, I get this message:
http://i.imgur.com/T5Hfi.jpg

If I cancel that message I quickly see the downloader for a couple of seconds (and nothing in processes):

I'm left with nothing:

The answer from getgames is:

Login to your account and download the installer again (2.4MB).
Run it and hit OK at the error box about running two instances.
Hit resume to finish download.

Seems to be working so far

Whoa, sweet as... I know it's DRM free, but regarding licensing could I actually install it on two computers I own so both can run Day Z?

Its DRM free. If you are allowed to install it on multiple PCs in your house then you are allowed to play them simultaneously. That's how I interpret that anyway.

Going by the 'vibe' I've gotten from GOG I'd say they would be okay with the scenario you're describing - it's your computer, and if you've got a friend or family member playing in your house it's cool. If that friend or family member really likes it and wants to play on their own PC they expect them to buy their own copy (of course, GOG know full well that they don't have to), and I think the goodwill they've garnered by trusting you to do this makes it more likely that the other person will pony up for it.

I think they're a little vague about the licensing terms because they don't want to have a 15-page EULA like most companies (that no-one ever reads, anyway), and keeping it simple like that contributes to the feel-good experience you get from GOG. They know you'll do the right thing...

Yeah, that definitly does sound like their policy (We don't care so long as you're not doing anything overly illegal).

I did however give the game files my brother in law to play on his new gaming PC (Which I built), it felt like the old days where you could actually lend someone a PC game and since you didn't have the disc it's not like you could play it.

Wouldn't you get a unique cd key anyway? I find it hard to believe that BI would just allow carte blanche access to run amok on their servers.. Otherwise what's stop everyone just pirating a copy if no serial number is used...

And if you go a unique key, surely it wouldn't allow 2 simultaneous logins with 1 key.. I'd intrepret the GOG terms meaning that if you've got a single player game then make 12831283012 copies for all your pcs, but I'd imagine that multiplayer games be quite different..

A good point - on the GOG page it says
Quote:
Multiplayer notice: In order to access multiplayer, you must enter your unique serial key that's located in My Account. For more information please follow this link.
So soulblade64, you wouldn't be able to both play at the same time anyway. That's a BI limitation, not GOG though.

A, fair enough... oh well, in that case if I do get ARMA 2 I'd probably just get it on Steam for easy patching... Although I'll likely just wait for the Day Z standalone that's coming.
