Next thing on my Linux file server hitlist.
Getting my Linux box to 'control' my UPS. I have a MGE Ellipse ASR 750va (450W) UPS that's connected to my ArchLinux box via USB. I installed "network-ups-tools" from the community package (link: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=5379). But now it's talking via HAL re: this document, what the hell software can I use to monitor the UPS? The only thing I've found is Gnome Power Manager which is useless as it's a headless CLI only box. Mmm as I type this, maybe I should just install NUT from source and use the 'standard' method instead of the funky HAL method. Anyway, anyone know anything about the first method (seeing I spent all night getting it to work!).
