Yeah it was Imperium. They went from being our arch nemesis early in the season to being... well... they dropped the ball after their hackers were expelled.

I definitely miss the combined-arms bedlam, and that feeling of ducking and hiding behind buildings as tanks and APCs try to find you.

Or just mucking around behind the front lines taking out UAV, artillery, satellite scans, etc to frustrate the efforts of the other side.

Still, grabbing a jet as squad leader as USMC on Wake Island and blasting over to the Chinese airfield before having a whole squad spawn on you to take the flag is priceless.

Should reinstall Special Forces come to think of it too.

[edit] hey hey Whitox!

Yeah we are looking at 1943 and any other game that comes out that people are keen on playing. There are a few +plus guys in x5 (Smiley, Krank, Munter) to name a few that you would remember. I can't believe I have stuck with BF2 this long and no doubt will get stuck into BF3 when it comes out.

EDIT: Hey mecka, Tere & Buzz - I remember the good times

Nothing to get too excited about, but saw this:

It was only confirmed in June last year, and info is relatively thin on the ground, but the hype has already begun for DICE’s Battlefield 3.

Speaking in an interview with Gaming Union, ex-DICE CEO Fredrik Liljegren – now of Antic Entertainment - said the upcoming shooter will “blow everyone away”.

“Well I knew that they were going to the console route because the numbers on the PC where dwindling,” said Liljegren. “I know what they were talking about on the PC side for [the next] Battlefield, and they haven’t announced any of that yet, after three years, so I know what’s coming, and I still can’t talk about it because I’m still under NDA.”

“What the PC version is going to be, Battlefield 3, I think it’s going to absolutely blow everyone away, but I can’t tell you what it is, but it will blow people away.”

Liljegren is hopeful about the series’ continued relevance too, even after a 3 year absence from the market. “That’s why it’s going to blow people away,” he said. “Because it’s not Modern Warfare 2 PC, it’s not that experience.”

A release date for Battlefield 3 has yet to be announced. Of course, in the meantime there’s always the small matter of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 to keep us occupied.

I think it'll be the start of PC gaming resurgence.

It'll be huge, proper destructible environments, super high detail, higher resolution textures (video cards now have much more memory than a few years ago), hopefully dedicated servers, constant updates (like TF2).

BF3 as a PC Exclusive is wishful thinking.

EA don't do exclusives.

I really do hope that DICE make BF3 a proper sequel to BF2. But at the rate gaming is going, I don't see that happening. I think they will ditch the magazine reload system, where you lose all the ammo in your current mag if you reload which is a damn shame because I always found that that system added a level of authenticity to the game.

They MAY keep the Q rose menu system, but if they do it will be super simplified for console users. And I highly doubt PC will be the lead platform like BF2, which means any changes made to accompany the console versions of BF3 will also be made for PC.

Big 64 player maps? I doubt it, if console is going to be lead platform then it will be optimised for console. They will settle for 24 players for console and maybe 32 for PC, just like BFBC2.

I have a feeling they will boot out fire mode selection for weapons too, that'd be too many buttons for consoles to deal with.

Will they introduce Rush from BFBC2? I have no idea, maybe they will introduce a new game mode for BF3.

Team formations with squads and commanders will most likely be simplified to aid console and "casual" players.

It's a bleak future for BF3 And I hate how they've used BF3 to sell MoH copies, MoH is a fucking shit game.
