Started playing it again Sunday night.
Decided to pick up some gunnar glasses as I stopped playing BF3 and SWTOR because my eyes were killing me.

I must say the last two nights have been really fun.

Really want to tick off the last assignment so I can give this game a rest until the next DLC.

It still amuses me that BF1942 had no unlocks, no ranks, no achievements, no HC/normal mode, no auto healing, no squads and is a far more entertaining and engaging game. Maybe because it was new, but I still have not played a Battlefield game as good as that one.

No mod support is suck too. I want Forgotten Hope BF3 version

And then find out its an extended tickets server with two people playing recon and searching for each other with MAVs. Sounds fun.

I still need four too, but my internet is playing up atm, so I won't volunteer until that's fixed.

Played one sqdm on the weekend, joined a squad which had one player, vs three full squads, and when I joined, our score was 5, with the highest enemy squad on 25. Had two others jump in, no voice comms at all. Only lost by 5 kills in the end, but came from last place up to second.

It was a purer game.. None of these fancy whizzbang gadgets. No heat seeking missles or night vision.. Just bullets, bombs and flak. A bit like how (in my opinion) Quake3 was a much better FPS than BF3 is.

I agree.

I get called soft and lame for preferring "normal" mode. I think I made a comment in this thread in its early days that if "hardcore" mode was called something like "other" mode, would anyone bother? Of course all the arm chair warriors want to be considered HARDCORE. It boosts their self esteem and makes them feel special. Anyways, I was shot down by all these pretentious (praytentious?) wankers.

I feel hardcore can wreck the balance (e.g. all guns kill in 2 bullets now, making most guns very same-ish, and spotting is much less effective effecting team play), and make it inaccessible for someone that, may be good at the game, yet not know all the little "secrets" (blind spots, hidey holes etc).

I just don't like being able to put 10 rounds into someone to have them run off.

Sounds like you need a tissue.

That's the best defense you can come up with, claiming players must only like it for the name? What a silly idea that I or anyone else base my preference of game style on what it's called. That's very sad and definitely very lame of you Snoochems.

I do understand your concerns about HC requiring more skill and S.A and how NM is easier for noobs.

I'd be interested in knowing who calls you soft, because it's not anyone I know (except my wife at your facebook posts today).

A rose by any other name? Hardcore mode is preferred by people (myself included) because it's simply a better mode of play... The only pretense here would be people like playing the game the better way, not egotistical chest beating as you have implied. I don't think anyone has a preconceived notion of what they want to be called when loading a HC map, rather I think they want to have a overall superior experience. I'd call you soft and lame but you rage quit so quickly in HC I wouldn't have time to say it before you're gone. I guess in normal mode people would have less of a reason to rage quit as it's like a bike with training wheels, reasonably safe for kids to use.

Hmmm. Outside of the thread/forums one of the other posters that I have the misfortune of actually knowing in "RL" actually messaged me in an attempted troll claiming I only like easy games, and then went on to brag about his BF stats. Something which he is obviously proud of, but clearly shows the game does not require much in the way of analytical thinking.

You see, how can a game be easier, when the rules are the same for all players? Its not like they're playing on HARDCORE!!! mode and I'm not.

No egotistical chest-beating? Sounds like you and Praytella should get out of your little circle jerk together.
