Actually the exploding candy and dildos thing sounds awesome

No, I wasn't saying anything should be nurfed, I'm just saying why their is so much hate towards snipers.

The reality is that on a public server a large part of the player base does not use all their tools regardless of the class they play. Engis not repairing, assault not dropping ammo boxes, medics not healing etc.

Its just that snipers get the rough end of the pineapple because a dude sitting on the edge of a map racking up kills is much more noticeable than the guy not dropping ammo boxes.

It's bushwookies you should be annoyed with, not snipers.

Awesome. A large percentage of the engineering class never repairs tanks.. so it should be changed so that if they move more then 10 metres from a vehicle they explode with candy and dildos (even if the vehicle drives off faster than they can run after it).

Also, a large percentage of soldiers just spam 40mm grenades.. so for every 40mm grenade they fire their controls are locked whilst their character dances the funky chicken to the Funky Town song for 30 seconds, a large neon sign should indicate their position to everyone for the duration. We'll figure out how to work dildos and candy into the situation later.

Should start forcing people to 'play-it-right'.
This NEEDS to be a mod

I don't see snipers as campers... maybe that's why I have different opinions on the matter.

Back in my day (heh) a camper was someone who sat in a spot on a map with an m4 and mowed down the team as they spawned or ran down a narrow carridor/area, giving the enemy no real chance to kill him. Likewise if they sat on your spawn not giving you a chance to get away.

BF snipers are just guys on a hill with little to no protection shooting at moving targets in a big open area. Open for counter attacks, other snipers, knives and tanks, all the while scouting, spotting and sometimes protecting the objective. It's not camping, it's playing as a sniper.

I guess I missed that bit... either way "realistic" has always just been a marketing buzzword. The Battlefield series are all considered arcade fps', as opposed to games like OFP and ArmA (and BF mods like Project Reality) which focus on realism.

Lol don't quote me, Goose was the inspired one

Back to snipers () I think it has a lot to do with how you see a snipers role.

On one hand, snipers are used as the lone wolf type assassin who covertly sneaks in to eliminate a hard to kill target, and get out without detection, or to cause chaos to the enemy from a covert position (see "Enemy at the Gates").

On the other hand, they are assigned to a ground unit to spot/recon, and target dug in enemies like machine guns nests/pillboxes etc (see "Saving Private Ryan").

I guess I just see the BC sniper as the second type, not that either is wrong.

Idk, I play squad deathmatch alot and nomatter what class I am I get a good K/D ratio, was 36-4 in a game I had last night as an engineer & only had one teammate against 2 other teams of 3. When I snipe I always move location after a kill unless killcam is off in which case only if they saw me, if someone runs past me at close enough range I'll pull out my pistol and go after them.

People who just snipe at the edge of the map, dont drop ammo or medkits etc. are just noobs, doesn't matter what class they are playing. But telling a sniper to run around with his pistol all the time and sit in the middle of the map, or run and gun with the sniper rifle.. Sorta stupid and goes against the sniper code more than sitting at the edge of the map with a tent.

snip·er
1. A skilled military shooter detailed to spot and pick off enemy soldiers from a concealed place.
2. One who shoots at other people from a concealed place.

sniper [ˈsnaɪpə]

And if the game doesn't accomodate for option 1, then your only choice is option 2. It's really the only way they can play while using that class.

Otherwise you're gonna have a bunch of wookies running around out in the open, rushing people and no scoping them etc. Then people are gonna be bitchin' about how unrealistic that is!

When I go sniper I constantly press Q to spot the enemy for my team to kill, it's very useful. It acts like the commander role in other Battlefields.

Snipers are essential for taking out AA and all of that
