My brothers AMD 64 X2 6000+ with 4GB DDR2 and a HD3870x2 had this exact same problem on all video settings. Once the lag goes the game ran fine on a combination of medium/high though.

Hahahahaha, god what a load of crap.

My e8400 @ 4ghz was maxed out at 100% with my 5870 doing almost no work, dual cores are as good as shit for frostbite.

Even my q6600 @ 3.4 almost maxes out with cpu usage.

I had to upgrade from my e8400 because it could not run BC2 very well at all....40-70 fps @ 1920x1090? maybe when looking at the ground on an empty server

I sat right next to them and watched them... they only had problems on Atacama, but that map sucks any ways. The lowest I've ever seen their frames go was about 20-30FPS during massive explosions.

In bad company I get about 100-120fps constand (fraps) with 4.6ghz i5 and 6950 at 1920/1080 4x AA no HBAO lighting everything on high.

I am guessing this is pretty much what you will want for BF3 as I want 100fps constant and only get that on bc2 so not gonna get it on bf3 I don't think!

I have an AMD athlon X2 and it runs fine, stutters a little when starting any of the snow maps, but that's it. Other wise smooth as 40frames+

really? 60+ fps here, seems to average around 60 (taken from afterburners g15 readout), everything maxed, aa on 2x, i3-530 and 5870 here.
dont have vsync on though as there is a min dip, as a few have said, normally at the start of maps for about 5secs

not sure on cpu usage (pretty well maxed i think, its temps get quite high on this corsair h50) but the GPU is actually running stock speeds, as this mini-itx case gets quite warm.
cpu is at 4.5ghz though (HT on), QPI@9ghz, ddr3@1800.. lots of bandwidth there i guess.

do plan to put a socket 1156 quad back in here though in time for bf3 (used to run a i5-750 @ 4ghz)

Dual core is terrible on Frostbite.

High CPU usage = console port?
