Let down by expectations that were too high. At the time of release ET:QW was the only game to vaguely approach the elements that made BF2 so successful.

Only problem was that months of hype prior to its release resulted in much disappointment. For me it was because the sheer speed of QW didn't cater well for my aggressive playstyle developed in BF2. Because it was so fast everybody was forced to be aggressive with the way they attacked.

Not too much of a futuristic combat fan. I believe this was BF2142's demise as well. I wanna shoot real guns damn it

The game is meant to be coming out after March 2010. So i'll eagerly start waiting for it to come out after around September 2010 .

For me I didn't like the combat becuse while it was too fast every "l33t" player I came across couldn't stay on the ground and it was like fighting rabbits on speed. It was extremely ghey.

To this day IMO Crysis/Crysis Wars still has the best feeling infantry combat I've ever come across. If only it had lower system reqs and BF style unlocks more people would have played it.

Hey, as long as they have a commander role for BF3, I'm set

I actually gave it a shot on a server in the wee small hours and people were surprised to actually HAVE a commander.

*pulls out the notepad file with maps/vehicle respawn times*

Bring it on.

Crysis/CW was very good, but just didn't have the community. Same with Frontlines.

Regardless of it's flaws BF3 will be HUGE, and we (CG) will be there!

Frontlines is still kicking, I play it almost nightly myself. I look forward to BF3 with interest. We might even see some sort of official announcement before christmas with any luck.

Pretty much just when people insist its dead these days though.

$15 on Steam, or $25 at EB's isn't much to lose anyhow.

I'm a battlefield fan thru and thru, well ever since the BF2 Demo anyhow, never played 1942. FFOW is my new BF2, been playing it non-stop for well over 18 months now with no regrets.

A mention of FFOW isn't an invitation trevor...

Further to the EA COO confirming it, KM Troedsson (Executive Producer of BF series) confirms it http://twitter.com/L_Twin/status/2115220029

I have like 3 copies of the game I wish I didn't buy. Two cheap steam ones and a collectors edition. Frontlines will make me EXTREMELY cautious of anything else those guys release in the future. Frontlines was an unfinished buggy POS when it was released. Idea was great and the combat wasn't too bad but it was badly implemented. I thought EA was pretty bad at fixing BF2 bugs/issues but the guys that made Frontlines broguht that to a whole new level.

I really wish Valve would release a game like BF, that way you wouldn't be waiting at least 2 months for patches to come out. It's not out of the ordinary for Valve to patch their games a couple of times a week, now that's support!

Throwing nades and C4 isn't a bug. C4 chucking was removed because so many bads complained.

How many left? Bugger all. The vast majority of people who still play BF2 in pubs are bad players and the same can be said about any form of BF2 ladder in Australia now.

I'll give it a go for pub play, the Frostbite engine looks promising but I doubt it will transfer well as a competitive game - none of them have been.

Patch 1.3 killed the BF2 gaming community.

Still isn't listed as a project on DICE's site.

It was removed because it was being used in a manner that wasn't intended and was considered cheap as shit by most players.

That was my bad for not stating I was talking about the first season of BF2 and BF2124. BF2 came out about 4 years ago now so of course people have moved on, however there's been nothing bigger since.

None of what have been? Or do you only count Counter Strike as the only "taken seriously" competative game out there since people just wont let that one go?

So what? All I can say is thank fuck you don't like BattleField.

I don't know what to say.

You obviously have not played in the clan matches, or if you had then it must've been a pretty shitty clan
