I can see that viewpoint. But exploiting the flaws of the game engine to ones advantage is kind of cheap isn't it?. We never got upset and never said it was cheating - but I wouldn't say that it would *not* have made a difference in the result of the game... the Grand Final.

Wow, the history of BF2 in a nutshell.

Same Herbo, BF2 was good value, played it for 2 years, so money well spent.

Agree about FFOW too, but KAOS stayed the distance and patched it into a fun game, I will get about 2 years out of it so also money well spent. Quite looking forward to HomeFront actually.

Agreed that people will flock to BF3 in droves no matter what its like too. DICE could release the crappest demo ever and it will still sell like hotcakes.

To a large extent I agree with both points. The argument about exploiting (that is what you're doing) is a fine line - hit box exploiting (crouch spamming/ bunny hopping), head into walls for nades, the out-of-bounds/ spawning, etc. Where do you draw the line before you're making the case that driving a Vodnik into Hotel is perfectly fine...

Yep agree with you.

I think all these issues added to the nightly controversies that made logging on to vent each night moreso entertaining than the game itself provided

At least the Frostbite engine is proven and largely tested (on console anyway). It *will* have it's issues, but I'm sure DICE/EA know they won't be able to dillydaddle with it's quality

I actually can't wait for BF3. I loved the game so much its just when it got down to the real nitty gritty preassure wars it became annoying.

Being on vent with mates c4'ing and prone jumping it up on pubs was some of the best fun in gaming I've ever had.

The whole 'exploiting' argument has been done many times to death in the BF community. (ie. its pretty much neverending). My stance is similar to that of Tinian.

All opportunities are there for you to take, I applaud the creative thinking of anyone who comes up with a new way to take the game to the next level or mentality or venturing further into the game's depth. A game like bf2 w/o out of the box thinking like the simply going out of bounds around an obstacle, c4 warriors, leader rotations, prone jumping, etc would become boring. Puts people out of their comfort zone when they see this, which often results in negative feedback or someone crying heretic!.

Again, expect BF3 to have little niche things like its former predecessors and expect a small group of people to find these things out, resulting in more cries of 'burn heretic!!', which no offense to the bf2 community but objectively speaking out of all the australian gaming communities, the bf2 community does tend to be a bit more sensitive to this.

I remember having a heated discussion with a known individual who was a staunch opposer to any form of exploiting or cheating, but had no problem in adding scripts to config files to remove 'head bob' on games like Quake Wars.
Is this any different to running a commander macro-spot script?

Anyway, BF3 will be great.

I will repeat for the record that TheBlackPanther is to this day one of the few BF2 infantry players who I enjoyed going up against on a consistent basis.

Also, CG managed to make it to the GA Grand Final without using bunny hopping, dolphin diving or C4 throwing. We were beaten by +plus, who were the better team - and to this date have always been the strongest BF2 team IMO. That having been said both teams were sploiting to a certain degree - we used a glitch in skydiving, +plus had Vodniks that didn't turn up on Radar when people were in them (another uncatalogued bug).

One other thing... Landaxe can get fucked. His sister installed hacks my arse.

I remember wake island on BF2. There was nothing better than rigging the carrier with tnt and seeing 16+ team mates go flying

As long as you didnt have a bunch of tarts blowing up the (your teams) jets ect, and you took the enemy airbase you pretty much won as US. Everyone rushes to the tips of the island then when the airbase is being capped no one is close enough to defend it, only the nubs left back waiting for the 2nd jet are there.

Reading about BF3 makes me want to get BF2 again , Play on max graphics this time since its so old.

The days of getting the first jet only to be kicked because of teamkills, those were the days.
