Default HTC Hero Discussion

So the HTC Hero has been announced (for real) and it looks really nice!

http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/24/htc-hero-hands-on/

I just got a Magic but can't wait to put this UI on my Magic.

For reference, the Magic and Heroes hardware are almost identical.

More Android goodness awaits.

Yeah there are finally some decent android handsets being announced. Wouldn't be surprised if Android really takes off over the next 12 months or so.

The Hero is what Android really needed. A handset that is sexy and appealing to the masses. A good designed mixed with a range of colours means that there is now an Android phone that Jane Bloggs might walk out of a phone store with.

The enhancements that HTC has done to Android look really tops.

Pretty good live demo of the UI in action here.

i'm not sure if i like the looks of the hero.
the ui seems ok (especially that side scrolling), but the phone itself just seems a bit too square.

i know it's almost identical in size to the magic, but the rounded corners of the magic make it appear smaller and less likely to get stuck in your pocket.

the hero seems to have multi touch enabled as well, so here's hoping they can enable it on the magic and dream with an update.

Android will explode...given the right marketing it will be as big as that other comapny..

plenty of applications and it will run away with a fair share of the market...

The chin is a bit over the top but otherwise it looks pretty good. I'm glad to see they have added the 3.5mm audio jack which was sorely missing from the past 2 HTC android phones. Now if they could just sort out TV Out....

I am loving the look of this phone, i liked the magic but no headphone jack and the styling put me off, the styling of this though is great!

I've never really been a fan of Apple however was seriously considering the 3GS, now i'm hoping that someone (preferably 3) gets the hero on the shelves ASAP as from what i've seen it bests the 3GS in every way.

I got a HTC Magic the other day, and the interface can be a little bit laggy sometimes.

If this makes the interface as smooth as demo'd im all over it like fat on a pig!

I just hope that vodafone just support it as an upgrade without me having to jailbreak anything.
