Just wondering what the best way to get the heatsinks off a Voodoo5 is.
And how risky is it? (Not ready to buy a new video card yet) |

Just crank up quake 3 or the sort put in a few bots turn all your graphic settings up and let it run for a while.
Then shut down your pc take the card out and the glue will be so hot you should be able to twist it off. Or if you dont like that you can use a hairdryer on it to heat it up or my fav put it in a zip lock bag freeze it then pull it out and just twist it off as the glue is britlle.

No solvents. Just put it in one of those zip lock bags and depending on how long its in for water might condense on it.
Ive never left it in that long though. I just take it out pop off the heatsink and by the time ive cleaned all the glue and put on the new hsf etc any moisture that was there is well and truly gone.
