Do you get the POST / BIOS display if you wait to turn on the LCD?
Or does that just get you into windows?

it's very random sometimes if I turn on the monitor before starting the computer it can get to see the post/bios display and on other occassions the monitor won't detect at all hence reason I leave the monitor turned off untill I see the keyboard and mouse turn on after post/bios display which I don't see cause monitor is turned off, almost 90% of the time doing this the monitor will detect, if it doesnt' i have to unplug the dvi and plug it back in to detect the monitor...

I've sent my information, and links to these threads, to Gigabyte Support.
Doubt that will do any good, but you never know.

who knows they might come up with a new card that resolves the issue.

Most of the people from reading through the thread are using gigabyte cards with asus monitors so there could be a correlation there.

Just found this thread after creating my own

Gigabyte EX-58-UD4 (bios revision F5)
Gigabyte GTX275
Dell 2407 monitor

Display works fine from a cold boot
Display mostly works when editing BIOS and rebooting
Display generally does not work when rebooting from within Windows, but continues to load the OS fine (I just cant see anything!)

i posted a while back

Gigabyte GTX260+
ASUS P6T
BENQ Screen

Using DVI

random if it will turn on or not on POST.
sometimes comes on when it gets to windows

if it does turn on, on post sometimes itll get to login screen, if it goes to no signal need to switch to other DVI port.

also sometimes win7 detects there being 2 screens instead of 1 and i have to disable it or i cant drag to the right

I am facing mighty problem with Gigabyte GTX 275 too, mine is the OC version, as my monitor Samsung 275T randomly keeps on loosing signal. Looks like Gigabyte graphics cards are useless and I wasted my $ 329 on it

My Brother just built a system today with the same Gigabyte GTX 275 and brand new Samsung 2494HS and it does the same thing. Using either DVI or HDMI the signal will randomly drop out. Sometimes the screen just stays black when pc is turned on. He is not happy at all, quite expensive set up and to have this niggling issue, especially with top brands.

Guys I have the exact same problem and i am happy to know that I am alone. I am going to contact place that put my Rig together only 1 month or so ago.

I had no problems for about 2.5 weeks but the problem started with the power save mode and now Vista seems to have problems recognising the signal as the monitor once it is recognised is not the Dell monitor rather a generic one. New drivers do nothing and turning off all power saving features as well. The problem perisits randomly with a cold boot now which is very frustrating...

So it seems it might be a GFX BIOS issue. I took mine back on the note of no POST display and got a replacement. The problem still exists with this new card, but just MUCH less often.

Cold boots seem fine, and most of the time warm boots are fixed.

I have notices with this replacement card, when you cold boot, the fan revs up high for a few secs, then just before it goes down, it has a little burst of higher speed. The original card i had just rev'ed steadily and lower right away without the burst. Wonder if it is from a different bios?

Should have waited over the weekend, as when i walked into Clayton MSY,(got the card at malvern), they had a mountain of Inno3D's with FarCry2 for 283.

But for most part, it seems the replacement card 'has' improved the issue.

Got this reply from Gigabyte...

"Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, we suggest you to test this VGA card with different monitor and see how it works. Unfortunately, if the problem still remains, a further testing or examination to your card might be required. We are really sorry for the inconvenience you have with our product."

They then suggest getting an RMA, which is basically saying they have NFI and would I mind not having a PC for a few weeks.

So my brother took his Gigabyte GTX 275 card back to Umart today. He told them he wasn't the only one at the moment having this kind of problem, directed them to this forum and they happily changed it over to the Asus GTX 275.

Since changing brand there have been no more problems.

Hopefully Gigabyte will start looking at this issue, and do something.
I still prefer them as a brand so hopefully they can get things back on track soon.

Changed my original Gigabyte GTX 275 with a new Gigabyte GTX 275, and the problem still remained . Changed it to XFX GTX 275, and ALL the problems are gone .

Conclusion : Avoid Gigabyte GTX 275 like swine flu

A mate of mine is also having the same problem with a Gigabyte GTX 260, so buyer beware of all GTX cards from Gigabyte at the moment.
Problem is it's a month old so Umart probably aren't going to change it over for him, they will want to go through the RA process!
