I was level 67 when I beat Crawerax. I had to use the map solo glitch to do it though. Instantly levelled me up to 68.

Been late to the party with Borderlands so have been playing the game and such solo. Been enjoying it so far. Last week I played through the 20 tedious levels to get the Hell-Burbia long game achievement.

Bloody tedious and ended being horrendiously annoying. 4 frigging hours of Starter Wave, Gun Wave! Horde Wave! Badass Wave! Here's the Boss!!!

Is it faster to do this in a group? I want to do the other two and get the long-end achievements as well before I go and finish the Claptrap DLC.

hmmm i'd rather beat craw legit than with glitches

I'll just do it after leveling some more.

I imagine itd be easier in coop, alot of the class mods have party wide fx.

On out 3 man party we have group ammo regen, 30% health boost, +9 health regen, 35% reload speed bonus and some % group accuracy boost also.

Which may be possible with a three or four man crew, but any less than that and I imagine it's next to impossible.

it's possible to do it legit with 2 players, a workmate and myself did it, took 2 attempts and about 3hrs but we did it. started at lvl 61 and ended up at lvl 68. and for those that don't know, crawmerax is always atleast 3 lvl's higher then the players

add
Code:
-nomoviestartup
to the end of your shortcut, or put into the launch options if loading from steam

shortcut should look like
Code:
"C:\2k Games\Borderlands\binaries\Borderlands.exe" -nomoviestartup

So I finally finished every main and side mission in all the DLCs. I have to say, the "Claptrap's New Robot Revolution" DLC wasn't the best to end on. Admittedly, the main missions weren't too bad, but the side missions were a grind (go kill 50 clap traps, now go kill 100 clap traps, now go kill 150 clap traps, etc).

I can solo him on my 61 solider, you just need to get the right guns to deal with each of the adds and learn his behaviour. It was a while ago that I did it, but I think it goes like this:

1) Hellfire SMG for the green adds
2) Corrosive/Caustic shotgun for the big purple slow ones
3) Shock sniper or shotgun for the fast burrowing ones
4) and a high damage, non elemental, fast firing sniper rifle for Craw himself.

Shield: Can't remember what it's called, but it has massively extended shield value. The big buffer is what you need to survive his big dive-crash thing.

And for class mod I think I used heavy gunner for the first minute or so (high damage) then switch to support gunner for the ammo regen (otherwise I would run out).

Basically kite him in circles, kill all the green adds and little fast adds. Only 3 adds can be up at a time, so eventually you will end up with only purple adds alive, and they are easy to kite so you can mostly ignore them now. Keep kiting Craw around the edge of the map unloading on him with your normal sniper rifle. Your turret is a bit of an oh-shit button to draw some aggro if you get caught in a tight spot.

Other tips:
1) Try to kill 1 weak points in the first few moments, since he is nice and far away.
2) Kill his eye early if you can - causes him to lose track of you more easily, allowing for easier kiting.
3) Learn how to predict which of his 3 moves he is doing - theres some subtle movements he does before each of them to help identify them. Occasionally the huge dive-crash thing will just get you at an unlucky time and you can't avoid it, but it generally didn't get me too much. Often you can get a second wind if you are quick to kill an add anyway.
4) If you can't avoid the flying ball spam attack thing he does, stand still until the first ball is about to hit you, then try running towards him in an s-curve or zig zag.

Thread revival

Anyone playing now (or bought it) because of the free to play weekend might want to use these.

Borderlands Advanced settings - Increased fov among other things
InjectSMAA - Jaggies don't make your eyes bleed anymore.

For the most part the game looks fine, but they make it look extra bit better (especially with AA...). SMAA injector is safe, all the advanced setting does is edit an ini.

I'm not sure if Borderlands uses VAC, VAC is typically used to monitor Steamworks online games, Borderlands uses Gamespy.

Bordlerlands is a hackers paradise. The real fun prepatch was hackers with unlocked inventory size etc would have the same effect on your game when you joined multiplayer. The effect would persist after leaving too. As mentioned before. No VAC. No cheat protection at all.

Anyway I got back into Borderlands after two years last night to tackle the DLC. Good times. After other loot games that shall remain nameless I'd almost forgotten what 'fun' is like. Roll on September

I ddn't understand hackers or cheats.. i prefer to just play the game as it was intended (apart from mods that improve graphics etc)

Ok, if we're using InjectSMAA do we need to select an AA level in The other program? Or we leave that at 0x ?
